Dream your life in watercolours,
Live your life in oils,
Frame your canvases with time and distance;

Hang each by a silver thread,
In a windowed gallery of memories,
Exhibit often and without discrimination;

Celebrate the beauty in your clumsiest brushwork,
Accept the imperfections in your mastery,
Reshape your truths, as light plays and colour transforms.

Caught in the coils of indifference
It's so hard to want to care
About anything much
Even my flow of poetry
Has become a problematic prostate dribble
Such are the joys of old-fartdom
Come day go day
Wishing my aches and pains away
Life goes on

I remember things that used to worry me
What was I thinking of?
None of it mattered
Young people take the poses that once were mine
And they make me smile
With amused fondness and nostalgia
I am envious of their innocence
But mostly their energy
I need a nap
Life goes on

The earth was
Flat
So that I could
Walk
Straight to the edge
Then jump off

Would gravity
Pull me back?
Or let me
Float?

If it’s anything like my
Heart
It will not allow
My feet
Ever to leave
The ground

pink
turning red
pale turning pink
sadness and anger mix
feelings unfold
red
turning pink
pink
turning pale
heart rate goes back to normal
calmness showers down
breathing still
red.

I drank you deeply at dusk,
and that,
is where I'll wait-
drunk on your magic
grasping at your ether.
