She sweeps with many-colored Brooms—
And leaves the Shreds behind—
Oh Housewife in the Evening West—
Come back, and dust the Pond!

You dropped a Purple Ravelling in—
You dropped an Amber thread—
And how you’ve littered all the East
With duds of Emerald!

And still, she plies her spotted Brooms,
And still the Aprons fly,
Till Brooms fade softly into stars—
And then I come away—

Watch the distant light,
faint flickers
in the night.

Four years are too far,
cold contrite,
dark as tar.

Look up from the ground,
see the star
come around.

Feel the breeze blow cool,
freedom found
though a fool.

Lost in desert sand.
Time's a tool
in God's hand.
An explanation- The poem connects sitting on the desert ground at night while looking at a star with struggling while believing in a distant hope. The 4 years refers to about how many light years away the closest star is. And the star coming around is the sun rising.

It ends with God being the ultimate healer who gives the gift of healing by using time.

I'm debating changing "four years are too far" to "forty years too far" a reference to the Israelites in the desert.

Not knowing, where the universe begins
Or how far, the darkness extends
Can one know, where it actually ends
A relationship with me is much like stepping on a grenade.

Thrilling, terrifying. and bound to implode.

So, if I find another great love,
I will not ask them to grow old with me.

I will ask them to

implode

with me.

Ahead of me
In the woods
At dusk like
A big cat
With big eyes,
The future turns
Away and runs
Up the switchbacks
Without a sound
Each paw pressed
Into the spine
Of my anxiousness.
Saw a mountain lion in the woods on 8-15-19 at dusk.

My soul was more loyal
Than your shadow.
You let me go
I accepted
Then why now?
After all this time.
Your rusted sword
Cuts deeper.
Deeper than I have ever thought.
Claiming good
Doesn't make you good.
So let me go forever.
