i write my best poetry
about the collar of your shirt
the spaces between your fingertips
the warmth of your chest
the curve of your bottom lip
and the way that i have not
even experienced
any of them yet.
My mother warned me to stay away from the big bad wolf, years ago.

I thought it was very strange but promptly forgot about it.

Until the other night when you told me that you were very wolf-like.

But the big bad wolf didn't come to my door saying he wanted to devour my heart.

He knocked first.

I look back, was it all worth it?
Saying good bye at the airport pretending like it wasn't going to be our last.

I'm walking to my car holding back my tears, almost lost it.
You got on that plane, didn't look back.

On my way back to Clear Lake I pull off to the side of the road, almost lost it.
You land in Brisbane, didn't look back.

I walk into our apartment look into your room, almost lost it.
You're home now, didn't look back.

I sent you something in the mail, must of lost it.
You're seeing someone now, did you look back?

It's New Year's Eve
I'm here
You're there
I'm alone
You're far from it
I lost it
And now I can't look back
It has been one year
since my last haiku; one more
year spent trapped in skin.
Things might seem hard to us at this moment.
We might be struggling at this here very minute.
We might be at our weakest , right now Friends.
We might be wishing that we had never existed.
But the one whom calm the storms is still here.
Still the one whom walk on water is still holding us.
Still he whom held the mouth of the lions open .
He is still here holding us up, calming the waves.
That roar deep within us at this very moment.
For he is the one whom destine kingdoms and kings.
Do not fear, for he is still walking with us right now.
For he is still able  to raise our Spirits up when we are down.
He is still the one in control, he is still the Savior God.
My daddy taught me

When I was very young

When I was very young

How to hold a gun

How to hold a gun

And never let it go

Must have been something

My daddy thought that I should know

Never did get drafted

But still I went to war

Still I went to war

Every day for sure

Every day for sure

Is like a battlefield

Never let them take you down

Never should you yield

I only bring this up

Cause I feel it's getting late

Feel it's getting late

For America's sake

For America's sake

We might need to up and run

Unless it is my son

You hold onto your gun
