I would love to give you a rose
With a box full of chocolates

I would love to give you a poem
With a drawing & special candy

I would love to give you intimacy
With a red bra & red underwear

I would love to give you a ring
With my name on a rare necklace

I would love to buy you a shirt
With both our names on it

I would love to take pictures
With you and me at the beach

I would love to fulfill fantasies
With you and only you boo
I look outside my window
To the streets below
A cold rain is falling softly
Making slush from frozen snow

As the waters flow on by
In the cold outside my door
I sit alone in silence with a soul
That's empty to to the core

The only thing that's moving
Is the water from the rain
The coldest tears are from the years
Filled with useless pain

I wonder now while I converse
With the Devils in my head
I hear their accolades of praise
Telling me to go ahead

As melting snow turns to drops
The rivulets become rivers of rage
The flow will eventually stop
When the words run off the page

Still my eyes see no reason
That makes it all implied
You get angry and shout it out
As the memories refuse to die

And you curse the sordid mess
That just won't stay away
So you load the chamber of the gun
With the bullet you bought today

You spin the cylinder of the gun
And put the barrel
To the temple
Of your head

But your too chicken
To pull the trigger
Putting another possibility
In instead

How much do you have to hate life,
to not be scared of death?
- ThePoet

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't
Because I really am afraid
But life has only sharp things
Wonder if death is willing to trade...

Longing
...a splinter
Embedded in the recesses of my core
Nestled deep, this tiny thorn
The source of my disconcerting sore

Need
...a shard
That stabs itself deep
Extract it I will not
Think it's worth the keep

Miss
...a knife
With never a dull blade
Stabs itself right through
Pain that will never fade

Want
...a syringe
Injecting the good and bad
Side effects loom
Driving me quite mad

Love
...a stake
Rammed into my heart
It doubles me over
It rips me apart

Life*
...a spike
Impaling without fail
Siphoning my soul
Through the holes in my mail

These are the few sharp things that I own
The only things I've learnt to savour
I've nurtured them large; now fully grown
Always wondered what death has got to offer...
Line taken off ThePoet's "How?", for Frank Ruland's "I Love Doing Lines!" challenge.

This line left me speechless when I first read it. It boasts of so few words but bears so much weight. It's smart, thought provoking and amazingly deep.
I started toying with it and came up with a response.

I am a big fan of ThePoet. I find that her entries exhibit uncanny wisdom, well laid thoughts and they're incredibly captivating.
Here's to you, ThePoet...
Thank you for the inspiration!

You are my rhyming couplet,
Or maybe more sometimes,
Something a little deeper,
Like that small internal rhyme.

You are my iambic meter,
Di dum, di dum, di dum,
Our stanzas are identical,
Our rhythms in unison.
Something I'm sure she'll understand ♥
You talk as I attempt to listen.

The thick air between you and --
I divide my attention so badly;
Breathing lost voluntary importance.
Your voice is a song I haven't heard.

My pupils gaze on your rain drenched hair
Following every trickling bead's river.
My reflexes see to be more magnetic
Catching every vigorous downward drop.

Lost in the soaked contours of your collar;
Transcending to a moment as new strangers,
Revisiting my premonition of you above me,
Our bodies, together, can change worlds.

Within a matter of seconds,
We have traveled for days.

I remember to breathe and listen.
