The Elders
Em Schwa Apr 2020
Her hair was white as snow.
A smile that shined like gold...
      A heart that bright,
          Led us to the light,
               To unite...

His stature was ever bold like,
an eye that saw through cold.
   A heart that strong
      Led us along
          To right the wrong...
To the people before us, that believed in us to carry on their noble legacy. This is a poem about my grandparents.

Soul Freeing
Em Schwa Apr 2020
Soul freeing, mind bleeding,
Quickly breathing...
Bend my back into my head,
Make me forget of all that is dead,
Heaven's voice once said,

"If you find the heart you seek,
You shall rejoice, you shall receive
a future tuned to reverie.
In the past, the drought will be.

But keep in mind the truth of bliss.
You'll only know of Heaven's kiss
If you become the love you wish..."

Next, is what I did.

Solar Eclipse
Em Schwa Apr 2020
I seated upon the pillowed ground.
Looking up, astounded to witness
An odious dream.
Ceiling lights lit mid-day,
a dark eye crept.
Spells overcame the senses, as the mirror asked,

"are you still there?"

"Still There?"

The avoided sky pure darkness.
A void inside surged, the eye was gone.
I thought the feeling fearfully familiar,
again witnessing what eclipses cause.

Although concluded,
the sky's story proceeded in revenant.
Ancient ways and horrid days
Keep cage doors wide open.

Am I still there?

A Prayer for the Mind
Em Schwa Apr 2020
The anchor has been set free.
I have been found and no longer need to hide.
I shall go, become, and embrace myself
For everything I am, and finally
I will love myself.

My Mind
Em Schwa Apr 2020
has jumped the cliff, grown stiff
off the edge of a ledge from a broken wedge,
It breaks to leave off a leash.
It won't listen,
Hence joy fails to glisten and regrets to compromise.
So here I lie.
I call for hire for which I desire
to douse the fire Our minds acquire
From the abundant pile of brainless life,
In the endless sea of tears, we cry
On the shores of sweet need
I thirst for water I can breathe,
But the sea beats the brink and,
I can't think.
