What
makes
A poet

Well
I think
Eventually

One will
just
know it

Danger
Code red
We're both feeling the heat

Forbidden
We can't
Compelled, our eyes meet

Exigency
Urgent thirst
Pictures flash in my mind

Desire
Burning hunger
Our bodies entwined

Electric
Your eyes
Provoking gleam as you stare

Desirous
Ardent yearning
A most torrid affair

Savor
A moment
We planned it just right

Delicious
Each touch
As we keep out of sight

Bewitched
I'm hooked
Consumed by your passion

Elated
To know
That was only a fraction

Breathe
Gain control
All in good time

Inevitably
This night
We'll know pleasure, sublime

Words like paper, valued by what they say
Eyes like river, unclear when swayed
Mouth like flames, burning the night away
Bodies like roots, thirsty to grow all astray

Often, the sombre emerges
Rarely, the world shines

Often, the story is told
Rarely, it comes to life

No when know, yes when you don't
Run when you're young, dance when old
Climb the mountains, cling to the road
Flutter in the calm, solace in bold

Sunburnt skins and moonkissed hearts, Pouring rains and heel-clicking walks.

Rough edged pages and unplayed tracks,
Carved pumpkins and ever burning lamps.

Unkept hair and pretty sundress,
Cold meal and unheld hands.
