A mother weeps - she has to send her children to the mines, for shining blue, the poisonous cobalt
Men, women, children, the Congolese people, dying young for scraps of money
The ground beneath their bare feet roars with richness and they never get to see it
The DRC is soaked in its people's blood, being torn apart for its resources
Millions of lives lost for the mineral blue, and more will be lost too

This blue fuels our batteries, our screens drip with the blood of the people, that never saw the fruit of their labour
For green energy we need more blue, more lives lost, there is a human cost, people
But our consciousness is clear, we are saving nature, no tears shed for the people whose blood is spilled for it
The eyes blue as cobalt, we don't seem to see the pain, or we do, and then we turn away
The Congo is bleeding, it weeps for its people, but nobody weeps for the Congo
The DRC is bleeding so we can have our electronics. I implore you - don't buy electronics you don't need. There is this book I found that I am going to start reading soon, it's called Cobalt Red on the topic if you wanna know more. You can also look up many great articles and video lessons. As for helping nature there is a browser called Ecosia that plants trees with the money from your searches, it's completely free

Between the faces all pale with grief
She stands - a woman amongst the
ravens
My darling, she wears white to funerals
So in her wedding dress she'll be buried

Heeds no hate to others' disapproval
In my mind I've made her a deity
When I kiss her it's a silent prayer
Under the altar where we married

So the poets say,
To truly live, half your heart must beat in another's chest
To live good, you must have both halves of your heart close
Should that be the heaven of the living
The inferno of the live soul must be to have half a heart
Eternally searching for the other

Yet no, I should say,
One will not burn from what one's never felt
For has one only ever had half a heart
He should not miss the other
The inferno of the live soul must be to lose half a heart
For then the flames must be exile

Yet I say,
To truly live, you must lose half your heart
To live good, half a heart must be to you enough
For then your heaven must be exile
The inferno of the live soul must be for your heart to be in another
Condemned to never beat for you

The skies ring out like church bells,
Hollow
When I pray He make me righteous
Faith has only given,
Sorrow
For hate is warped into its fabric

The scriptures are the tongue,
Divine
I never listened how I should have
They go against this body,
Mine
I'm weeping for the child I left

Are holly lies better than this sin,
Love?
Which is most hated by the godly
So declare the Heavens,
Above
Nobody hates me as the faithful love me

At the window sill I sit to weep my sorrows
Ugly birds join in on my grief
Their hard caws echo my sorry cries
In mourning I have become a bird as unsightly
As grieving crows in barren trees

Why might I weep a loss not lived?
A child's tears I stopped from spilling
Caw ugly birds, for your sorrows
So I might join your wretched song
To pour my troubles to cold skies

Hands made to hold the world, cannot hold a wide-eyed child
Foul cries, like ugly caws, do not comfort
Wipe your eyes youngling, you will never have to caw to the skies
Stop weeping creature, thought you might only cradle dreams
Leave the birds to weep for you
I will never be a mother

Before I am reposed at last, weave me a crown of flowers
So for when I pass death's threshold, I might carry life
For the rotting halo I wear might turn me into an angel
And my decomposing body to have a companion

The sand lines on the shore are just like you and me
Unable to oppose the pull of the sea
Yet every time I draw lines in the sand
I make a wish they would remain until I'm back

I take not two steps and they're washed away
The sea asks me why I come here every day
I move closer to answer the sea
That's when I know sand lines are just like you and me
