When your mind is shattered
Your eyes are blinded
There is pain everywhere
you go
Don't give up and
Don't give in

When the wheel of fortune
is stuck at 6
No hope remains
Don't give up
Don't give in
Noon will be coming around
again

When loneliness is
your only friend
and
it keeps calling you names
Don't give up
and
Don't give in

There are times
when life is
ablaze with horrors
but
Don't give up
and Don't give in

Those that survive
are those that find meaning
those that passively
take to their bed
are bound
to
perish
Don't give up
Don't give in

When the law's
got your name
and no payment can be
made
and
you have to go
along with their plans
that have been laid,
Inside, where you hide
Don't give up and
Don't give in.

Time only stops
once
Don't give up
Don't give in.
Bring down the rain
Oh bring it down as fast as you can
Bring down the rain
And cleanse me off all the doesn't make me a good man
Bring down the rain
And ruin me for what I love
Bring down the rain
And prove to me there is a God above
Bring down the rain
So my friends can't see my tears
Bring down the rain
So I may conquer all my fears
Bring down the rain
And freeze me to the bone
Bring down the rain
And may the man with no sin cast the first stone
Bring down the rain
So I can see you in a new light
Bring down the rain
So I may finally sleep through this night

I don't feel
Your touch
Anymore.

Or hear you
Calling my name.
I love you (past tense)

I don't taste
You on my
Tongue

Or smell your
Sweet, sweet
Scent.

Because
I love you
(Past tense)

I don't see
You in my
Dreams

Or think of
You that often
Anymore

Because
I love you
(Past tense)

But sometimes
At night
I lie awake

And I feel
Your touch
On my skin

I hear
Your voice
Calling me.

I taste
You on
My tongue

I catch
A whiff of
Your scent

I think
Of you.
Just you.

And hope
I'll dream
Of you again.

Because I
Don't love you
Past tense

Still,
I love you.
(Present tense)
I know
I always make mistakes
I will always be flawed
I don't deserve anything

But God whispered to me
I deserved to be loved
And I believe in Him

Because I know
He knows I do love
I do..

Sunday in the city,
in the grey and golden morning,
it's still enough to hear the birds
clamor in their rosy waking.

The pillowed bands of cloud,
moved by sunlight,
glow and slide across the sky,
lighted blue.

To wake early in the city,
to be lonely,
everything becomes eerie
and beautiful.

The folks on the bus
staring out
at the passing
abandoned buildings boarded up.

Quiet but for the bus
and the birds chirping
somewhere unseen
in the lattice of leafless trees.
i would write you
a love letter
but i don’t know how
maybe i could start
with something cliché,
like ‘Dear you,’
and then I’d talk about
how your eyes gather sunlight
in the day
and shine golden
at night
but i was never
good with words

or maybe i could make you
a mixtape
and leave it
on your front door
there aren’t enough songs
about tuesday afternoons
and cuddles on the
kitchen floor
to get things
off the ground

so let me write you
a poem instead
a poem that rhymes
and the taste of
your strawberry lip gloss
the sound of
your name
but it wouldn’t make sense
anyway,
some are artists
( not me )
and some people
are art themselves
and my favorite poem
is you
it's hard not to write about love. it's hard to write about love when there's no one
