Because once that love is gone

You have to find it again

You just have to have it back

It's the only thing that will keep you going
               When everything is falling apart

Drip drip the rain goes
The farm rots and the wind blows
Time fades away like light into darkness
The Blackness drips come centerfold

In the realm of the nothing it can be so lonely
Dreaming about a better time with your one and only
But hope is like the poor man's change
Give it up and things will stay the same

So the black gives in to bright
The stars are shining over the night
The city glistens like a diamond rock
And you and your love wake up together

Snowball bushes and fresh grass
It wasn't summer yet I could feel the heat from you
Soft browns and whites, the pupils of your eyes more of a calm black
Lost in the youth of the moment
And the innocence of freshman year
Winter always makes me nostalgic

Flowers will bloom
From within her -
With each new sunrise,

Sunbeams kiss her soul -
Each new day is a blessing,
In her eyes.

Petals delicately dress her heart -
They protect her fragile core,

Precious moments shall elapse -
Her petals will fall -
Protected,
She shall stand
No more.

Exposed and vulnerable,
Her heart,
She will wear
On her sleeve -
The Merciful Lord
Shall leave her never,

New petals,
She prays,
On that day
She shall receive -
Flowers will bloom
From within her -
Forever.

There is a spot
atop a hill
beneath an old shade tree.
It is the place my parents rest
and thus is dear to me.

It is a pleasant spot they chose,
now blanketed in snow.
I place my wreath and give a thought
to a Christmas long ago.

That Christmas Eve my father brought
a tree that filled the room.
My brother worked to fix the lights.
The girls sang Christmas tunes.

Atop the tree an ornament
A star that shone like gold.
Reminder of the miracle
of Christmas long ago.

The house is gone
and they have gone
Their youngest has grown old.
Still I recall my sisters voices
and that star that shone like gold.
Christmas eve 1958 remembered
