Sometimes I hold a dead phone to my face so I don't look crazy as I talk to myself.
People are so eager to change me
into someone they cannot be.
The burden is not mine to begin with
They say live
live alone
straitlaced as an
arrow meant
for that
one gruelling
dot

Live for the
ambition
of the skies
and never the
gravity of
the ground.

I say
fall and rise
fire and air
swept in
torrents
up there
swinging
for burn or tide
downs.

I say create
and destroy
live still
and die all ways
change
and change
until time stops
its
crackle
and bustle

Every waking
day
Is both
a funeral and
a birth right

I say create
as we all
write our stories
amidst the
downpour of
life
and the ruins
in our heads.
Okay, so here's a poem challenge! 6 days until Valentine's Day, well here's something to do:

There are a couple days left before Valentine's Day! So every day until then, write a poem about someone you care about. Each day, write about a different aspect of the person you care about. Use the tag: #vdayaspects
This person can be anyone, imaginary, real, someone you hate. Just someone you know well.
Like how a snake's venom
Is its own antidote
Both of us too
Are each other's inverse
Condemned to give pain to the other
While being the only ones
To cure, to relive
And to mend the broken pieces
Our poisons have shattered
The flower told the bee
Who was about to **** himself
"Why do you insist on dying?"
The bee, sad , replied
"Because in that death will
I only ever feel I was alive"
Shaking its pretty petals
In contradiction, the flower said
"You are wrong. To exist is to
live for something, for someone"
The bee now mad, cried out
"What do you know?You're
just a flower!"
The flower,smiled, sadly
"No I live for you"
"I breathe in knowing you need
me to stay alive and that
is enough reason for me to
live"
The lines in this poem are supposed to be a dialogue I planned on including in a story I started ages ago and just couldn't find the inspiration and time to finish. And this is how I see friendship, how I see our human connections as something enduring and genuine. Have a nice day :)
She slipped on her frayed dress
As she raised from the creaking motel bed
Dark eyes about to rain, ****** lips shaking
She reached out a cigar and puffed silently
Just in time to wake him up
Where are you going? He asked
Far away, far from here, she said
He got his old leather wallet
Pulled a twenty and crumpled it on the desk
She looked indifferently and picked it up
To the cold, hostile September eve she goes
To become someone's woman of the night again
Again and again until there's nothing left of her
Again and again until she has left everything of her to the world
