Manx Jan 2021
be a holiday
ill be a presley
we can dance at the cabaret
waiting for dawn to greet us gently

sway your hips
in motion with mine
we'll tremble and move
all to the time
of the beat of the band
boy, aren't they grand?
let the music die away
let neon, unravel and fray
i'm happy to just shake if you'll stay
just hold my hand
let's run away
From the ashes Jul 2020
I took my girlfriend
for breakfast at Ruby Tuesday,
We both had waffles
and I felt a sense of
Satisfaction from the sublime
maple syrup.  On our way out
the waitress said, don't be
a stranger, I Miss You.
At the time, me and the
old lady were homeless,
it began to rain, she
cried and said, please baby
Gimme Shelter.
Don't worry, I said,
I'm gonna come to
your Emotional Rescue.
She cried even harder,
and I said, Angie I know
it *****, but You Cant Always
Get What You Want.

Truth be told, we're just
Tumbling Dice.
But we're Happy.
And through her tears, she smiled
and said, you will always be
Under my Thumb~
Here is another offering for BLT's band Challenge.  The band is of course The Rolling Stones.

I wasn't just that band aid,
          that was  going to heal
   you with faint kisses.

And peel off useless after I'd
                      been there a while.

My intentions were to
          rejuvenate our blemished
   emotions.

And yes there will scars,
        but we'll heal together.

I am on Mackinac Island,
Lying down on a big white lawn chair
In front of the Grand Hotel.
The faint scent of fudge
Lingers on the air so I can almost taste it,
And my hair is getting constantly blown
By the wind that flows among the
Chairs, grass, and music.
The music comes from the direction of the water,
Where an old style jazz band has
Temporarily set up shop,
Creating gorgeous silhouettes
Against the orange and pink sunset sky.
The purring of the clarinet
Bounces off of me like the waves are
Bouncing on shore,
But even lighter than that,
Even lighter than the
Wings of the seagull trailing overhead.
The clarinet drops in and out of sync
With the waves as the silhouettes start to
Bounce to the music.
A distant bike bell dings,
But it matches so harmoniously
With the music that I don't notice it.
Waves, bike, clarinet.
Waves, bike, clarinet.
A constant cycle interrupted only by
The saxophone and drums occasionally.
Waves, bike, clarinet.
The sun is set.
Silhouettes turn to shadows.
Waves, bike, clarinet.
Waves, bike.
Waves.
I hope you are all staying safe and healthy!  I can't wait for the time when we can go enjoy live music again.  Thank you for reading!
