Shall I watch high to see the birds?
And wish that I could fly along
Knowing that I am in a curse
Why does this feel so wrong?

Shall I listen closer to hear the waves?
And wish that I could play their sound
How can it not be safe?
When I’m here getting drowned

Shall I take a breath just to smell the breeze?
And wish that I could kiss it’s chill
I only choke up when I breathe
Suffocating, but I’m still

But I still feel sand packing in my toes
It wishes to hold me, I cannot go

I'd love to live down by the ocean
My bed, the grains of sand
The stars at night, my candle light
As I lay down my weary head

The open sky would be my blanket
The cool sea breeze my ceiling fan
As swaying palm trees lull me off to sleep
With no dead lines and no demands

The call of morning gulls my alarm clock
Who's company makes sure I'm not alone
As I spend my days with the calming waves
Relaxing in my ocean home
I actually live only a few minutes away from the ocean but think often how it would be nice to leave it all behind and live the simple life...This would do it!

Pretty sure I did you a favor
On the day I let you go
Cause the travel has been mostly uphill
On my long and dusty road

When your at the place of young and naive
There's no need of looking back
The older though the more you know
And clearer are the facts

That all roads traveled on
Do not lead to easy street
Though it has lead back to where we were at
When I said your lucky your not with me

Not realizing at the time
What little time was left
Would be the time that you find
It was all for the best

Yes, the day I turned you loose
Should have been a day to celebrate
Since you didn't have to go with me
Through a lifetime of mistakes

The best way to not get your heart broken is to pretend you don't have one.
One said.

But every time you show up,
you remind me that
perhaps,*
Some people are worth having a heart for.
This is so ****** up.
I'd breathe water
If you found me poetic for it

I write my poems out of

The stories I am told

From the wants of young

To the needs of old

From those that have it all

To those that have no more

From the peak of heights

To the depths we fall

From those out on the fringe

That come at the tail end

In search of life's acceptance

But aren't sure where to begin

I take what I write

From the blood of night

From the song of day

In the beat I find

The feeling that you get

When life takes its toll

The older that it is

The more of this you'll know

I've written poems in blue

And also poems in black

Recalling things I've done

And feelings I once had

Be it things that I've found out

Via tears of a clown

There isn't much that I

Haven't written about
"Don't give up on me," she wrote
As if that decision was ever mine to make
She prefers silence to words
Redundant noises vibrating emptily like the buzzing wings of a gnat
Her quiet will shatter you like a bullet through a windowpane

But look at old photographs, see her beam
Look closely and you can see the sadness seeping through her smile
She's seen enough to know what's worth suffering for
And she knew you weren't worth the fight
