Have you ever seen
A rose unfolds
To embrace the morning sun?

If you haven’t,
Once in awhile
take a moment
To witness her brilliance

It’s like a woman’s heart
That slowly unfold to unveil her secrets,

Grace her with the attention she deserves
you’ll see, she is more than a rose ,
That goes beyond
The allure of her velvet skin,

Her face is a mirror
For you to see beyond your horizons

Her mind is a classroom
For you to dance off beats
Until her music consumes you whole

Gaze into the depth,
Of her eyes
You’ll see.
She is filled with mysteries ,
Rich with magical moments

If you’re beautiful and shine bright
Like a bumblebee,
Plumb deeper into the beauty of her depth, there
You’ll find the treasure of her soul

And
If you’re tender enough
Show kindness and compassion
To keep her grounded as desires
instead of disturbing her peace
for your own selfish reasons

She will open up to you,  always
She will be there for you,  always
Her brilliance will keep you smiling
And coming back for more, always

Claim her or leave her
Love her or deny yourself
The possibility to be bound and still, free.
Curst be the wretch, and sure he's curst
That taught the Trade of Rhyming first
'Tis a ****' d Trade, and who pursues it,
I'll pass my word at last he rue's it
The above is an extract from a late seventeenth-century satirical ballad I stumbled across in the course of my research. It made me smile; I hope it does you! The title is the number of the ballad in the English Broadside Ballad Archive, an online database of seventeenth-century ballads, should you wish to read the entire piece yourself.
The sarus crane
Tall and grey
Slender bill
Fluttering
magnificent Wings
Black feather tips
One pink skinny leg up
Tilted red head
Orange marble irises
In a state of trance
Did a spiral dance
Into the water
Splashed

January has arrived
Along with the other months
Enclosed in envelopes neat
To unfold with time

January has arrived
Always the first one to
It offers what it knows
And takes it slow

January has arrived
It says, believe
And seek the opportunity
Of new beginnings

January has arrived
With each passing day
A little warmth it brings
Harbinger of spring
Clarity in mind
Purity in heart
I seek with each passing thought

Revel in the revelation
Of weaknesses and strengths
Peace reigns within

Accumulating experiences
Imbued in the knowledge
That right and wrong coexist

Year after year
New and old
Blend in and grow apart

Lost and found
Forever in time
Rays of hope and sunshine
Happy New Year 🎉🎉
I am looking out a window
down a road that leads to sea
past fields along the horizon
there’s a bird upon a tree
where eye can’t see behind leaves
where a branch holds the strong
I can’t hear, but I believe
there’s a wing and there’s a song

I’m looking out over meadows
across hills, beyond the blue
where the willow casts her shadow
where my lady is out of view
bathing by a bay on an ocean
tending to her tail and fin
She’s humming, pouring lotion
and in my heart I hear her sing
Believe
