A poet goes
Hoping to get just one
View---- a poet is born
By the millisecond
A window of
opportune.
Some poets dream
Of Mars
Some the stars, sun and moon.
Some are rich and some are poor-----
Some have houses
Yet no money for a bedroom door
Some poets write with pens
Others write with their teeth,
Other poet's write with pain and excite
Some poets write rapping streets
Some poets write of amor, some write of drug use
Of their future's in store.
Some poets write for fun and play
Some write of their deaths
Some in June and may
Some poet's change their lives
As others write sweet lullaby's
Some poets are me and you
The someone's are somebody's
That someone is you.

These are not
petals unfolding
and I am not light
but a daydream
drifting

These are not
lips savoring
and I am not night
but the darkness
awakening

These are
reddened skies
and I am but the dawn
a woman
breaking
REPOST
When I receive messages within minutes of posting, from two poets on HP I admire and respect, inquiring about the break in format on the last stanza, I know that I haven't been as clear as I could have been.  I love getting the loves, but your discerning eyes are the true gold here. Thank you so much to David Adamson and PoetryJournal for taking the time to ask for clarity.  I love the discussion!  Hope the change makes all the difference...

You don't have to believe
In science
Because it's already true
Although the subject of an object
Can certainly be misconstrued
Still you can't escape all that's matter
All around you
Through and through...
He was born at a time when the times were no good
When you'd get what you got and you got what you could
And any ground that you gave was right where you stood
And the men were men and the boys were men too
And they did what they said and they said what they'd do
There was Hell to be paid and the Devil was due

You gotta shoot 'em up bang bang
Fill 'em full of lead
Shoot 'em up bang bang
Until they're dead
"They're gonna have to pay"
That's what he said

Shoot 'em up bang bang
Gotta make 'em squeal
Shoot 'em up bang bang
Gotta seal the deal
For the pain he'd have to carry
He would see them killed

You know the darker the secret the deeper the grave
His sweet Maggie had up and left him for his best friend Gage
And that's enough to channel any man's inner rage
At first he missed her so and prayed to be released
Especially every morning when waking to no peace
Then one day he awoke and decided it would have to cease

You gotta shoot 'em up bang bang
Fill 'em full of lead
Shoot 'em up bang bang
Until they're dead
"They're gonna have to pay"
That's what he said

Shoot 'em up bang bang
Gotta make 'em squeal
Shoot 'em up bang bang
Gotta seal the deal
For the pain he'd have to carry
He would see them killed
This is a song. Southern rock.

Sometimes
I feel the innocence of all of us
Filling me

Our lives
Our deaths

The moments of love
The moments of terror
indescribable
far too real

Nature has enough in store
How do we treat each other so cruel?

Within this humanity
is everything I feel
All of us really
children without protection

Maybe it's sentimental
morose
maudlin

People work so hard
Try so hard

Put out
Put on
Endure
Put up with

It's all we know how to do

Sometimes I stop
when the colors are vivid
the birds cease their call
a pause in the breeze
and I can hear the innocence
of all human beings
whispering
to
me.
Another hippie dream.

he said that he was homeless
on the other end of a telephone
his momma said she'd send her prayers
but prayers can't build a home

he has always known this
to be lost in a nowhere zone
from his birth there was no one there
and he was left so all alone

he said that he was homeless
she said "well, you're on your own"
it was hard to know that no one cared
only love could build a home

Sometimes I feel
I give & give
My love, my wisdom
It's how I live
But some people, they
Just take & take
They **** me dry
With their heartache

I boost them up
Tell them they're fine
Encourage them
I'm their lifeline
When times are tough
When life is hard
I rally round
Love unbarred

But where are they
When I'm feeling down
They're just not here
They've all left town
I say I'm blue
I'm lost, I'm sad
I need a hug
I'm feeling bad

But they don't respond
To my plea
My hopelessness
They can not see
They do not care
Or can not cope
With my despair
There is no hope

I guess I need
To walk away
For my self worth
I can not stay
It can't go on
It has to change
I need to find
Some exchange

I'm not unkind
I just want to feel
That they'll give it back
That they'll be real
And understand
They can't just take
Because
Eventually
I'll
