Ashly Kocher
Your lifeless body laying there, the silence was dark
The chill grew colder, the time passed by
The wait was over, it was time for goodbye
We surrounded your bedside, we prayed and sang
I know you heard us, and still to this day
The silence is now broken but the chill is still cold
Well be ok, I'm sure you know

I hope your watching over me each and everyday because I know your still with me in some way
I look to the sky and I know your still there...

You will always be my "Papa Bear."

Melt away my fear
hold my hand for just a bit
hungry eyes waiting
First time playing around with a haiku.

Begin with the meat.
Venison, if you seek authenticity;
if you were raised white,
ground beef will do.
The mirapoix can be purchased
if you no longer till
the back yard.
Potatoes and peas and corn
as well.  No matter
what the commercials say,
frozen tastes nothing like
fresh from the earth.
If Grandfather did not
milk the cow and churn the butter,
saute the vegetables and meat
in half a stick.
Flour was bought and traded for
for many generations;
just open the bag and add a quarter cup.
Beef stock is such a
pain in the *** to make.
Safe, sterile boxes
with tamper-proof caps
so much more convenient.
Let the soup simmer for
what seems to be a lifetime,
then open two cans
of hominy, drain them,
and add to the ***,
letting the smell
summon the memories
of whole families.
Adjust the seasoning,
sweetening the broth
with a tear or two
before serving.
Day Two NaPoWriMo.  Poem based on a recipe.

Kelly Rose
She is moonbeams
And dappled sunlight
Renewal and
New beginnings
Gracing the land
With fragrant blossoms
Buzzing bees
And dandelion flurries
As children play
In Spring’s garden
Blowing happy bubbles
And laughter floats
Touching the heart and soul
She is Mistress of Spring

Waking in the night
Disoriented from sudden darkness
Skin cold and wet from
The sweat on the sheet
Hopelessness sets in as
Life's cares crash into my mind
Like a crushing weight on
My shoulders

I look around and in the darkness
I hear your breathing
Softly whooshing in and out
I am comforted by your presence
My faith is restored by the fact
Of you in my life

My mind thinks of the bible verse
That says that I am the branch
And He is the vine
And I realize that the same is true
In you

Without you
I can do nothing

I turn toward you
Place my arm around your waist
You stir
And turn back to me
You turn your face to me
And your beautiful kiss on my lips
Strengthens me
Bolsters me
Fills my heart with reassurance
Shows me that your love for me
Is undying
And true

You are my rock
My foundation
My light and my joy

You are the still waters
I love to lay by

You are the shining light of the moon
In the clear night sky to light my way

You are the meaning in my life
And my love for you grows day by day
Like an Amaryllis
Whose blooms never fail but
Are constantly replaced with more

I thank the Lord
For you
Every second of every day
And I will continue to do so
For the rest of my life

Your up at dawn
Your first thought is me
Your always working
No matter who flees
I ask where your happiness lies
You say in me
I never understand your love
I dont think I ever will
When I fear of your absence
I come peek at you
I know you care too much
and want whats good for me
Your happiness lies in me
but forever mine lies in you
Dont ever leave me
because there will be nothing left of me
I love you mom
