Your eyes
play music
of the softest violin
up
down
the melody sways
with the shifting light
of hidden love
Quickly written,
Could be read in second person, I guess...

In life,
It is essential
That you learn
How to be strong enough
To let go;
And wise enough
To wait
For what you deserve.
Rain falls
behind her eyes

misting her world
the color of asphalt and
wet granite

not a single

tear

falls

Soul Survivor
I saw a photograph in Life magazine.
It was of a woman who was displaced from
Oklahoma during the 1930's.
She and her family were homeless.
Not a tear was in her eye.
She was too numb to cry another tear.
She was done crying.

This is for all the women out there
who suffer in silence.

Soul Survivor
\(*!*)/
When the clouds web a raven moon
His thirsty eyes your eyes may meet
And unless your senses frigidly swoon
Can hear may I have tea and biscuit!

The hungry seeker is ever on roam
Carrying in winds his heavy sighs
With none to call his own and home
Except night’s stray passersby!

If you stop some moments with him
Can hear war stories and his bravery
In soldier’s pride his eyes still gleam
His eyes are wet when speaks of Annie!

He roams the night till the moon is veiled
His home is here this earth his heaven
Loving to chat with the souls strong willed
About Annie who he left at forty seven!
Owen Tomkinson was a British soldier who died of cholera in the northern Indian state of Bihar in 1906. People around the area of his grave believe that his ghost stops residents and passersby and demands tea and biscuit. The epitaph on his grave reads 'In loving memory of Owen, The dearly loved husband of Annie Tomkinson who died on 19 September 1906, aged at 47 years'.

the challenge is to be surefooted
steps soft and light weaving
through the house as it resists
my every move
to stop and kiss innocent cheeks
make sure the bodies are still warm
prepare the same rituals
of hot coffee and cold juice
while the dogs wait patiently
for fresh air, water
they exist only for my care
and hurried touch
this day like any other
you are here as well
asleep in the back room
i know this as certain as i know
the path i need to take
towards my favorite chair
also waiting for me
to take pen to paper
in the near light
in the almost day
the challenge is to create a life story
strangers want to read
The oceans between us
are nothing
just drops of blue
The sky between us
is just a flight
We are so far
yet so very near
because Sally the
friendship we hold is dear.
Like the rushing of the wind
I will be there
Like th rays of the sun
The cool of the snow
when winter's begun.
We are so far
yet so very near
time travels fast
yet seems so slow
My thoughts every day
are with you Sally
I am as far as a stone can throw.
I am around the corner
sitting at the bend
I shall be your friend forever
untll my very end.
For the rest of my life
I will be a loyal friend to you
never ever forget me or lose me
That is something I will not do.
We are so far
yet so very near
Sally this is for you to keep.
Death is inevitable,
Your passing isn't something I like,
Your writings filled me with inspiration
Your works simply intimidates me
And thank God I had the opportunity of reading your work here on Hellopoetry
I really can't explain how it made me feel to know you once shared this platform with us
And it's really sad to lose a writer and poet
She was exceptionally good, such a rare and talented writer
She was simply phenomenal
May God rest her soul
She would live on in our hearts
Adieu Maya Angelou.
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may **** me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.
