Abbott J Hardison
The sky is gray,
And the clouds are low.
The winds are chilly,
And traffic is slow.
I'm still kicking,
But my heart beat, I no longer know.
I'm missing the sea,
I'm missing home.
I want to see,
The salty waves as I roam.
My love is buried in the sand,
Too bad.
Guess I'm leaving off this morning,
Feeling sad.
Feeling really homesick lately, don't know why. I miss Boston.

eased into the day-suit
legs swinging for feet to take the strain

-you breathe your day-breath
and go at it one more time.

a day creeps into unwelcome eyes

-winkled out of the night

~
Sun drips
on leaves

not the backyard variety
but the trembling kind

the kind
that weld night-time
intermissions to
the roof of the mouth

sonnet-filled
evaporation
reveals
the timely concealment of
a very, weary
inanimate object
at the brink

just enough hip
to be woman

just enough wild
to be frontier

Now,
This moment,
Que sera sera,
The next moments are not to be seen.

one star in the East
peeking through cloud

so many miles away
-a love like no other.
