Widow Maker

In the mid 80s my dad took me to a plane crash in North Wales

It was a B-26 Marauder that hit a mountain

We climbed up to the area nearby

I froze when I saw our last climb

Up a seemingly vertical dry waterfall

There was only a bit of metal at the bottom

The rest was hundreds of feet above

We had to ascend a series of rock ledges

These were like steps and gave a way up

But my **** went and I said no!

My dad went mad shouting and pointing

It did no good my mind was made up

But looking back was it something telling me

Don't go up there or else?

I cannot say nor will I but I regret it

Not going up there to the crash

And seeing the Martin B-26 Marauder site

The Widow Maker plane lived up to its name

Killing the crew and wrecking the bomber

Decades later I think this:

I want to climb the dry falls and see it

The only plane wreck that beat me

I want to meet their ghosts...

Blasted Backfires

Digital beeping death tone

Radio net is up and running

Sailors die under enemy fire

Same with our soldiers

Souls harvested to heaven

Or taken down down below

Whatever the reason or cause

Digital death tone keeps beeping

Beep pause beep pause beep ...

Missiles flying up up high

Soon to arc down and hit

Guess nobody killed the archers

Before they launched their loads

Enemy arrows inbound!

Those enemy birds are lethal

Sink our carriers **** our grunts

Enemy Neo Soviet Backfires

Ready for bear and used by him

Yankee Eagle versus Ivan Bear

Digital death tone ongoing

Blips on the screen oh so quick!

Truck size antiship missiles

Gonna sink our ship!

Time to splash those Backfires

Bomb their base and escalate

We aint gonna lose this war

Till the Stars and Bars

Flies over the Kremlin

Digital death tone

Loud and clear

old soul

good you understand

not many do

some are judgemental

yes its possible

to have too much

of a good thing

living on a mountain than hikes

we are all old souls

some just dont realize

The roar of the **** automatic guns

That threw their exploding flak shells

Mixed with the shout of our engines

And bone dry rattle of our machine guns

Gave the French battle scene life

As we strafed and bombed our enemy

To give our troops more time

Our biplanes were made to fight the last war

Not a Blitzkreig but a target was a target

We went after the ******* all the way

Our six Hawker Hector biplanes still had teeth

Four yellow painted 125 pound bombs

And two small machine guns aimed by both crew

City of Manchester Squadron grabbing their chance

Aircrew of the Royal Air Force serving King and Country

In the darkest hour as the **** war machine came

Seemingly unstoppable and utterly invinsible

Except when the RAF biplanes attacked...

Death Cash
Life insurance death payout doesn’t make sense
Surely you’re meant to be a live to enjoy the payout?
But they only pay when you’re dead and buried
Something aint right there…

Uncle Sam
When will the company payout?
Just like Catch 22
All the benefits come after death
You sign on the line

And pay the cash
For the listed benefits
But you don’t see them
Not a single ******* one

They’re left to your loved ones
Don’t have a wife or kids?
Too bad then
Uncle Sam will claim your benefits

To enrich his war chest
And defeat the *** and the ****
And the Reds after that
The benefits are all his
