Talking to you, it feels like home again.
We're not really saying anything
But that says everything
I miss you, I'll come visit,
How have you been?
It's better than nothing
And I'll take what I can get.
It's funny how far we can come,
How much things can change
Yet you're still my comfort
It's like you never hurt me
Back to being just friends.
But, we were never just friends
So here I guess we'll begin again.

He nearly ripped my throat out just to prove his point.
The bleeding thumbs of an angry boy can be tasted on my tongue at 11 pm.
His desire lies in between his toes and his malice in between his teeth.
He screams to a God he'll never praise and kisses a father he'll never love.
The sound of the air blowing between my teeth, however, shut him the **** up.
Shhh.
I have a project for you.
It involves you losing your victimizing nature.
Dropping your entitlement.
Opening your baby browns.
And listening.
Your sweat will never taste sweet until you love yourself like you loved her.
Your legs will stumble on their insecurities until you dance in your impurities.
Your vengeance is futile and will only make you avoided.
I can scream too.
You want to scream?
Scream with me.
But don't say I didn't help you.
Don't say I didn't try.
Don't act like the blisters and welts on your tan skin are from my fire.
You want blood?
I got plenty.
I'll jump rope with your esophagus.
Play dress up in your epidermis.
Understand your motives and thoughts better than Lauryn Hill.
But you can't assume anymore.
You can't believe that I fall to my knees because you make me weak.
That's not the case.
I don't need you like you need me.
Oh, please.

Still,
I rise.

By the power of God,
I sheath
The knife
That was once pressed
To my neck.

That falls to the floor
With a resounding
click.

Rusting. Tetanus shots. God.

Somehow I saw
Jesus' face in the blade's
Own,
Ruddy red hair and
Scraggly beard.

And.

Voice cleaving through
The darkness—
a whisper.

For the first time in
A while,

He spoke to me.
Still,

I rise.
No matter what, praise Him. I owe him a lot.

Father God
The world has provoked my heart into anger
My people happily marrying
Drinking their affairs asunder

Slavery never ends as masters of Earth continue to be Earthly
Working on the eyes, people-pleasing
While hiding their hearts in the dust and the dreadfully *****

I pray the dust of the Earth seek Your purging
See through the fangs of night,
Love illuminating

Let me be home, into your peace; a nourishing swarm
Rest my head against You like a babe, nestled in your arms

Rescued my hand to hold
Place my heart in Your hands
Pierce through heart and soul
Love Incorruptible
Before I utter words
You already know the condition of my heart
My intention, my bunch of reasons.

I raise my voice
Not because I'm shoutin' and screamin'
But because I wanna be heard by You
And yes, I'm gonna shake the Heaven
With all respect to the Holy Throne of Yours.

You then are my Healer
You then have saved me.

I pant, with continual desire
With praise and longing
With tears that's melting my soul
Not because I'm worned-out of this battle
But just because of my faith
Like a mustard seed
But can move mountains.

You are the same
Yesterday, today and forever
You then heard Joshua
And fought his battles
You then are with him
And gave him strength all through out
Indeed, you then will give me victory.

Your grace
It was precious to me
You are the living water
The very reason for me
To be thirsty no more
I then, am pleading
For the shower of grace
For Your miraculous act
For Your perfect will.

My cup overflows
As I seek Your face
Don't hide Yourself,
For I'll be weak without You.

I throw myself into You
I have no other fear
But the fear of You alone
You gave me the keys to Your Kingdom
And yes, I am ready for more!

Yes, yes, You are victorious in me!
Hallelujah! Praise the King of all Kings!

You said
The most brilliant thing
You said it was
Like a heart surgery
But he was only a
Surgeon in training
And had neglected to
Mention beforehand
That it was only
Exploratory cardiac surgery;
And it was just for his
Simmering curiosity
(He couldn't have carried
Out a simple angioplasty?)

That he cut the aorta
That's what you said
And his curiosity subsided;
And he left as you bled.
Someone I know used a brilliant metaphor the other day.
