Red
I wander these claret corridors
In search of humanity lost
And I find you waiting
Behind a pane of translucence

I was chosen, you tell me
You've been waiting for me
To save you from this hell
And I believe you

I can see the longing in your eyes

There's sadness there too and
I want only for your happiness and so
I devise a plan to set you free

But it's not enough

You need me to see
To truly see
What this freedom will mean
And so I try
Again and again
To empathize with a desperation that
Only the imprisoned can understand
And I just want to show you
That all you really need
Is time in the world
To breathe

But it's not enough

You need proof, you say
As you roll up a sleeve
And I watch in helpless horror
As you cut and bleed
With a surgical precision
That only comes from repetition

To show me your humanity

And as it drips and falls
And collects on the floor
Through the red
I realize

There's none left in your eyes

What was there before
Is now gone, devoid
Of all emotion
Drained
From your body and
Pooled at your feet
And I try to run out
But it's far too late

You're already gone
The door's locked
The oxygen's run out
And I'm the one
Left for dead
Inspired by the film Ex Machina.

I'll tell anyone, I prefer being
Underwater, and that is as
True a statement as any

Let's put it this way:
I appreciate the reality
Of an environment where
Time is centripetal and gravity
Is cheap and thoughts are free and
Clear

See, I was the kid always winning the
Underwater breath-holding competitions
Back in a time when that was a thing
And I was rather good at it and
It made me feel special

But the adults

They would insist
I move an arm or a leg
More for their sake than mine
Of course, refusing to care that
Playing dead was my key to success

There's restorative power in the stillness

But they wanted no part of it, no
To them, it was akin to death
And death meant trouble
And so I'd appease
Their silly fears
And twitch
An arm
Or leg
Just
So
But
All the
While I'd
Remain in
The zone, so
Focused on not
Requiring oxygen
From the air that I'd
Fail to hear them calling
My name, growing concerned
So much louder now, angry now--

Oh, that's what that was

And so it was
Back to the surface
Back to all the judging
Faces, dampening my mood
Detracting from a win earned
Fair and square, and back
To pretending that being
Normal was anything
I'd ever aspire to be

What potency she has
She can now conquer
Always believed in herself
Now she can prosper
Facing all challenges
And rising above travails
Lifting her head proudly
Because she has prevailed
It won't be easy and you won't get it straight
When the sun goes on you in agony
You be ready to go to madness to the great

I might been sad and broken and jammed
But kept your love in very tremble way
Once I'm done, I really am
I'll plead you leave and not to stay

You see Paris crying above your head
And gothic wind is to come to blow your heart away
October the fifth you wake up in your bed
Perchance you'll see it coming through the rays

You moved to Venice to obtain any good
But as for me I chose freedom
To lie and sleep and brood
Upon the past, and I still see 'em

The visions of you and me in flames
Burning down to the ashes
Our love which's unmaking to the frames
Now falling down with the smashes

Of the feelings in my chest
Goodbye I tell you at that fest
Of all the heart-broken ones
Never thought of joining the club

I never expect love to lie thus
And the fate that way to fool around
Is there anything that left for us?
Or we have nothing to be bound (to)?
