You called yourself a philosopher—but
The only depth you cared about
was intravenous.

*The boy who loved God too much,
he tried to find Him

in his head.

you say i'm funny
because i prefer rain over sunshine 80% of the time
it's no joke to me though
because rain could mean thunder
and the thunder brings a chance of lightning
and the electricity reminds me of that night with you
my hand tingling because of your tight grasp on it
i laid on the wet pavement
quoting Walt Whitman
you sat with closed eyes listening to the rain
and me
Cut your teeth
on gasoline,
white lies, small death
and saccharine.

Hollow chests,
empty smiles.
thoughts and hearts
will stop a while.

Cold hands,
cold hearts.
we're dangerous children
with poisonous darts.
people won't remember
your pretty face
nor your pretty clothes
and the money you had.
they will remember
the melody in your laugh
and the way you loved
and the beauty of your heart
and the bravery of your spirit
and the kindness of your soul.
they won't remember what
you looked like
they won't remember what
you had.
they will remember you
and the words you told them
and the life you spoke to them
and the water you used
to bring to life the dead garden
in their souls
and they will remember the
sunshine in your smile
and the stars that
hid in your eyes.

The proudest of men that walk the earth
Have been doused in glory since the day of their births
They chase after those who've run away
Speak when there is not a word to say

And their greatest endeavor is to convert the innocent
Hungry for the women striking young and brilliant
Unbelieving of a lady's independence
Sure that all women crave their presence

Like rabid dogs, the proud men search
For those to quench their undying thirst
To be loved and accepted of men of the heart
But these men only search in the emptiness of dark

How can they deny the truth in their faces?
They imbalance the world and its natural paces
No one can love an arrogant, proud man
But they search and search, yet they never understand

That love is for those who are willing to fail
Inspired by D.D.
I'm shaking and
I don't want you to make me feel better
I don't want you to hug me
It snows and
you don't want me to keep things from you
you don't want me to be scared
We walk and
I don't want you to think I'm a child
I don't want you to be burdened by me
It's late and
you don't want me to leave
you don't want me to be with someone else
I'm home and
I don't want to fall
you don't want me at all

Some Person
You can't be strong all the time;
Sometimes it's okay to be weak

But I have a feeling
if you use less energy
trying to be strong,
you'll find you're already
stronger than you realize

And sometimes
strength isn't the answer
Sometimes
your small, soft hands
are exactly what's needed
by someone in pain

Maybe you're good enough
just as you are
