Raven screams
on stiller days
of brighter dreams
from sunlight beams
bleaching dry
newspaper reams
This air that seems
containing more
that what i breathe
echoes in the distance
just for me
jubilantly

This cracked asphalt retains heat
under the frost and angled seams

as fragile
as a songbird -

her hands

knotted and spotted
from many winters

november came one last time -
i held her hands in mine - gently

- gently, she flew away
to where songbirds go
when it's cold in the mountains.

lovely comes and goes,
but feeling is forever,
sun rays know
sun rays grow
sunshine nurtures
broken souls

lonely comes and goes,
but warmness is forever,
moon beams know
moon beams show
moonlight accepts
drowning souls

I am human.
I am one strip of skin stitched together holding active organs in line,
I am 206 bones.
I am one brain.
I am one overly active heart.
I am one lung and 2 ovaries.
I am the same as you.
but how dare you compare me to you.
I am independent thoughts,
I am autonomous actions
I am a story.
I am history and future.
I am human.

Writing the words
the emptying
of my emotional recycle bin

I pour them out
with intent to demolish
to remove the evidence
the unwanted remembrance
the devastation
that threatens to unravel my sanity
