It's what I do all day.
Thinking of how to fit into society.
How to fix all the dysfunctional parts in me.
Don't show weakness,
tears,
or sadness.
Be a leader not a follower.
Be confident in what you do.
Be photogenic, because
ugliness
is not an option
and your image
is everything.
You have to get good grades
but act like you couldn't care less.
Acting fake is the only way to go
because when you're yourself
they
judge
you.
It's a lot to think about
and takes a lot of energy and hard work
but society has it's demands.
And when I wake up again tomorrow,
I'll put my Barbie face on
only to think of ways to simply
fit in.
Come play with me;
Why should you run
Through the shaking tree
As though I'd a gun
To strike you dead?
When all I would do
Is to scratch your head
And let you go.
The morning sun rays bathing the soul
Waking it up from the dreaming consciousness
Eyes soaking in the awakened beauty
Taking off the cover of night, to reveal a new day
Sun rays swathing over the valley
A watercolor painting over the Earth’s canvas
Vivid colors are splashed to create a spectacle to behold
A wave of warm embrace caresses us
As we get ready to rise up to the occasion
To usher a new day and new dreams in our heart

I am still looking up
Still looking up
For you
 May 2014 The Quiet Poet
Bails B
She was a pretty thing,
talented and beautiful.
But she believed the opposite
all because of what her father told her.

"You’re not pretty
You're worthless"
All these things
on repeat in her mind.

Then one day
a boy with scars like hers
came up to her
and said,

"No matter how dark it is
there is always hope
I love you
and you are beautiful. "

This was the first time anybody
said nice things to her
and she started to cry
as the boy held her close.

Now, ten years later,
they stand side by side
at the altar of love
and each say, “I do.”

Because of the boy with scars like hers,
she held onto hope.
She realized that she had a say,
she realized that it will get better.

So no matter where you are,
the storm won't last forever.
Just hold onto hope,
this pain is only temporary.
