Day Wing
It was never meant to break our spirits,
rather to prove we have beating hearts!
We mustn't succumb in the face of pain dear poets! Feeling pain is proof that we are alive! It proves that we have souls! It proves that we have beating hearts! :)

~

A pale orange glow
slips past the darkness
in soft patterns
of a waking dawn

I hold you close,
nestled to my chest
watching as you sleep,
enchanted by your beauty

Slow tempo’d breathing
lulls me sweetly as
your eyelids flutter,
gradually opening

You see me and smile,
that beautiful smile
I look forward to each day,
I return the gesture

I kiss you tenderly,
feeling my lips melt
into yours as my heart
once again skips a beat

“Good morning beautiful”
I whisper as I kiss you again
then sigh, gazing upon you,
knowing I am a fortunate man

And I just lie there
wide awake and in love
at the start of another
*wonderful day
Good morning Beautiful

can you catch a falling star
with hands afraid to trust
head bowed in shame
heart full of blame
too afraid to speak the truth

your star could fall at any time
and land within your grasp
keep your arms wide open
your head held high
and the words “I love you”
ever on your tongue

A poem is built with sounds
Liberally littered with alliteration
Rhyming reason
Aspiring assonance
Up metaphorical mountains.

Each letter plays its part.
A cast of cascading chords
Making mystical music
For the discerning ear.

Operatic musicals from the Muse:
A crescendo of noise
Or sometimes
Whispers in the winnowing wind.

I write because I must,
Because I need to
In answer to
The Call.

you my firefly,
sit perched on my
left finger.

why have you brought
with you the stars
to this humble earth?

you have the whole
sky for your luminous soul and yet
you rest your wings on me.

here you grace me, firefly,
to bring me the heavens.

light up my
heart,
and brighten the path
I follow.
a prayer

Soft wind off the lake
In the shadow of a tree
Driving Tiny waves to
Lap against the shore
Lull you with the song
Of A Warbler on a Branch

The coolness of the earth
Soothing the Mid Day Heat
As the Sound of Cicadas
Are Hushed by the call of the Loon
All upon a mid day Afternoon

The Sound of Laughter as Red Kites
Dance in the Air among the Clouds
The creak of Swings in full Motion
Lead to Day Dreamed Notions

Coolness sets in as the sun Sinks
A chorus of Tree frogs breaks
The Nights Silence

Shadows shift in the bloom
Of a Midsummers Moon

The clouds are windy
And foreign, light rays
In the sky is my dream,
I am nestled in wave
As we run sleepy to shore.

In the wet sands of beach
Are markings of birds,
Little traces before flight,
Their steps to heaven,
Before rain washes away.

The stars are gleaming
To know us, but I only
Know you, what mystery
There is in knowing,
How flesh is temporary
And the eye eternal.

Please come be with me
Into breaking love dawn,
Please come to know me,
Grab hold of the wind,
Set me to flame like stars
Above, I only know you.
Expecting a different outcome
                      *I try
            just one last time
