I wish I could go somewhere.
I want to travel & explore.
But I'm stuck here. Not much money
& I'm stuck inside a teenage body,
stuck with restrictions.

Despair,
complete despair,
that dull melancholy;
a constant elderitch sensation
that you're being watched from behind.
You feel those bloodshot eyes on your back
as they dig in,
bore into your spine
and disperse pure,
cold hopelessness
into the entirety of your body
through your central nervous system,
having a numbing effect
on everything you've experienced.

Every happy memory
shining a little less bright,
memories that used to bring
a warm euphoria
you once knew the name of love
now brings a wicked strike of agony,
a burning anger,
that rapes your inner peace
and everything
needs to restart
all the work
you've put into forgetting
has to be redone
and than the period
of convalescence begins a new
and you plead to  yourself,
"please let this be the last cycle.''

Twenty-fourth
Cold, smooth stone
smooth like a hundred rivers
washed over
giving it shape
a long journey
of lost pirate ships in the deep
overgrown moss
like a carpet
under my feet
Cold, smooth stone
tell me
the tales of lovers
against your surface
the sun beating on you
and the moon
caressing your beauty
children dancing
using you as a stepping stone
Freckle-faced smiles
turning into serious eyes
campfires burning
enchanting legends of ghost stories
starry nights without sleep
Cold, smooth stone
tell me the
secret of reasoning
a thought, a mood, a moment
the feel of our skin connecting
laughter loud and in one voice
Cold, smooth stone
tell me the mysteries
of life.
the way the wind blows
changed everything
in the beginning

as the winter air
found its way through the
cracks of my doorframe

until storms arrived
riding on cold fronts
to greet longer days

when summer's freedom
gave little thought to
slight movements of air

over piles of leaves
painted by solace
in deepening dusk

where the end settled
and nothing had changed
the way of the wind
Snowflake, snowflake
fall to the ground
light and gentle
without a sound

Winter, winter
your air consumes me
in peaceful stillness
tranquil beauty
