Ode to Storms
Emma Lee Mar 2016
The night before
She came
She came stronger than ever
With her fury locks of blue tipped hair
And molten fire eyes that caught your stare
Her thundering voice caught the ears of the many
And she wailed and she grieved plenty
Her eyes bleeding rain to the ground
In which many did drown
She made her way down the old creek bend
Sweeping down trees
Sweeping down mountains
For she longed for her place
In this old, old world
Her moans for guidance
Tore through the silence
Many fear for her name brings shakes
And her walk brings quakes
Many will run
Many will hide
But I understand what is deep inside-
With her uproar
Men know peace and no war
With her rain
Men can grow all their grains
With her thundering cries
Men know the quiet and no lies
She gives strength to the world
And hope for a day anew unfurled
She makes me feel at home
When she is near I let my heart roam
Her thundering voice lulls me to sleep
Her pit patting rain- I’m now asleep
Her bright flashing eyes watching over me
I know I am safe- at last I am free.

Acrostic: The Day and Night
Emma Lee Mar 2016
This is inevitable
How is this world impeccable?
Ever so incredible

Day, with such pleasure
As sun lights up our lives
Yet never we’ll experience the full leisure

As all good things must come to an end
Never to be seen again?
Do not despair, for more is there just around the bend

Night of calm and peace
Inner selves revealed
Good things come, bad things cease
However dark, we must yield
The best part, of course, is sleep
This is an acrostic poem inspired by the ultimate opposite pair.

The Love We Seek
Emma Lee Feb 2016
What do you look for?
What do you seek?
What you need, Let me read loud and clear
Listen well, my dear

A dash of a smile
All awhile
The warmth of a hug
There aren’t you snug?

Maybe a kiss
More of this bliss!
So just in time
Sing like a chime

But will this work?
You may ask
There may be a little perk

But you cannot acquire
Cannot require
This one true desire

It sings like charm
It makes us all warm
But it hides
Yet it’s wide

All around us
Can’t you see the glow?
For you must trust
me ∨ you just don’t know

As the dark recedes
the light envelopes the world
