Heartsplit*

A measure of the time
Between one part of a relationship
Not caring as much
Anymore

And the other responding
The same way

Slightly longer than a heartbeat
Slightly less than
Love

Perhaps being aware
Never takes us
There

Focus
(A Friends Challenge)

Focus on the good things
That happen every day
Don't just see the bad things
And think that it's okay

Talk about a life well lived
The compassion someone showed
A moment of forgiveness
That touched someone you know

There are people all around us
Who lend a helping hand
That will give the shirt off their back
To help their fellow man

So many who are out there
That answer to the call
Each day they do amazing things
Wanting no reward at all

So focus on the good things
That happen every day
See all the things around you
That make this world a better place

Carl Joseph Roberts
A friend's challenge to bring attention to the fact that all we hear about is the negative on the news each day. He said there are so many good things but you never hear of them.  Wanted me to write a poem reminding people that there is still a lot of good out there and it is not all gloom and doom. Look around daily and focus on the possitive instead of just hearing and seeing all the negative.

I'm a man of lucid
Nightmares; this time
Lost in a world of snow

With nothing to keep me warm
But the piece of unlikely driftwood
I held on to for its familiarity alone,

Sobbing into it; tears softening its
Brittle texture until it transformed,
Became flesh and skin and pulse,

And whispered, as its twigs moved
Against my chest, my name with
Slight concern; either for me or

Her own lack of sleep.
I kissed her elbow, released her arm
And left the bedroom to watch the

Rain dance on the stage of the
Streetlit pavement outside the window,
And thus celebrate reality, where I can

Sit and listen to something breathe that
Loves me so intensely that my absence
Would be a world of

Snow, without a single piece
Of driftwood to
Cling to.

The Messiah Complex
Tell us how you really feel

Tell us how you believe black people
originated from god cursing Cain
Tell us how you think

"It's the children that suffer
from interracial relationships, because
it confuses them and they don't know
which race to embrace
"

Tell us how you believe the poor
"Should just stop being lazy"

How teenage girls should just accept
responsibility for their decisions
while refusing to listen to their pleas for help
after the baby is born into your cruel world

Tell us again, how your god
doesn't pick and choose
the winners and losers
in this ****** up life

"God gave us free-will,
the evil in the world is our own doing
"

Tell us how saying a prayer
is more acceptable than
actually giving a ****
about your fellow man

I am looking for a reason to believe
*just tell us....
I'll agree with one thing you said. The evil in this world is our doing and I was always taught that if you aren't a part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.
Honesty is sheer *******.

dishonest preach it
honest suffer it.
Truest of Love
gets willingly
on it's knees.

Shadows Rising
Darkness covers me with uncertainty
Judgment engulfs me
There is no light here...

Sickness surrounds me with stupidity
Forgiveness rejects me
There is all light here...

Choices that are made Fail
Choices that are given rejoice
When light shows it seems dim
When dim disappears it seems light

A cycle to be broken
But a cycle never cracked
We spin......There is no light....
But light we show....
Drunk rambling......

A true semantic literary meaning
awakening to curate
my being
or throw away it all and question
the delivery of
the ics and isms
determining not by me but by the reader
what is true
like Montague
proposing a new system
I propose a meaningful regimen,
one where words are either felt
, make me halt and listen,
to what they truly meant.
Or they don't.

~

Beyond the sand and water line
alone in quelled explore
These footprints lead uncharted miles,
the first of many more

To wander in a time once known,
reflective worries gleam
In sand dune wishes washed away
and thoughts of what they mean

This setting sun shall rise again,
bring mornings to their due
Tiffany shades to paint the way
hypnotic thoughts of you

We’d walk this beach of moon lit swirls
to count each star above
These tiny lines from me to you,
connections of our love

When now this silent vacant space,
misplaced of harmony
Dark shadows play a time before
of what this world could be

Sitting here these shifting sands,
my heart does swim the tide
Ebb and flow desires sung,
tear drops cast aside

When there a shinning light appears,
deep within my stare
A figure from my memory
performed of glistened flair

You take me swift into your own
with eyes to meet my gaze
Longing for the past returned
of brighter sunny days

Words inscribed this moistened beach,
scrolled so deep the sand
“Meant to be, eternally”
cursive in your hand

Soft a curved horizon’s smile,
immersed of drifted sea
Drenched in every breath of you
is found this destiny

Sandcastle dreamscapes, seashell bliss
we walk again this shore
Like waves that fall our endless strand
*as one, forevermore

Poetic T
When I go will I
Shatter my Body
Like a vase as it drops
Will I break in to shards,
Cracking,
Shattering,
Fracturing,
"Will my soul move on"
Could I piece together
What is lost
Breath
Life
Heart
Never again to Beat
I last exhaled word
My heart now broken
I shattered like a
Crystal,
Rose
When
Dropped
My soul left
When I was lifeless
Broken life upon a cold floor..
All worldly knowledge
is utterly useless
until One learns
how to apply it.

Wisdom
is not a concept;
it is a way of life:
philosophy.

You felt like a
Slug,
Upon my naked skin,
Leaving a
Trail,
Wanting to wash you
Off my
Pores,
Flesh,
Skin,
But I cant you seeped within,
"Violated"
The stench of you permeates me,
I ***** uncontrolled,
You are that which I despise
You
Are
Me
This isn't the way I was meant to
Feel,
Violated,
By the sight and touch of me.
