I have no pain to speak of.
So I allow myself
Silence.

It has quiet room for
Sympathy.

I am a poet with a pen
In charge of writing the world I am in
Constantly on the poetic move
In search of words to rhyme for you

I am a poet who seeks the truth
Pours it out for all to use
Giving to those who have a need
Opening verse and setting it free

My only hope is that one day
My part in life will bring about change
To the farthest corners of this great land
In every heart of every woman and man

I am a poet with a heart
Leaving it open for my form of art
Sensitive to life, love, and loss
Holding hands with the paths that I cross

I am a poet who takes the word
Sets it straight on its life course
I feel I am here to fill a need
I am a poet for all to read

you can spend your life
following the rules
breaking them
making them

you can choose to love
yourself
everyone
no one

you can get though the days by
drinking tea
drinking coffee
drinking *****

in the end, we all die

therefore, you can choose
that these decisions
your way of living

isn't what matters
is all that matters
or that nothing matters at all

"You found your way
into my heart.
And it seems
your only way out,
was by tearing it apart."

when i was a little girl
i thought my daddy hung the moon
he worked a lot
but i had the best daddy in the world

when i got a little older
i started to go to my friends' house to play
and i saw their daddies
their daddies were home every day and night
their daddies loved their mommies
their daddies had time for their little girls
but maybe
my daddy just worked a lot. . .

when i was barely a teen
my mommy died
a week later
my dad brought over a new mommy
(but daddy loved mommy)
my dad started telling me lies
(i don't think daddy lied to me..)
my dad has more time for his girlfriends than he does for me
(daddy's only girls were mommy and me)

in my last year of high school
my father left and bought a house
1,102 miles away
he still thinks he's daddy.
happy father's day to my older brothers who are better dads to me than my father is.
