VOICES

To hear ancient music in the pines
or the bright moon speaking on
a cold, wild night.
Voices flow with song and speed,
loud as a busy highway, soft
as transparent air.

Vine leaves speak in whispers,
palm fronds shout their struggles
with the wind.I eavesdrop on
the gossip of the waves as
the blue hush of dawn fills
the morning sky and gulls
recite their own mournful hymns.

So many voices translate
mintues into hours, hours
into days. So many messages
passed on in time’s quiet
mystery, and the language
of heart whispers its own
gentle secrets.

Small boat, tiny port, an island
sleeping under hazy sun.
Mystical moist air, threads
of rose clouds decorate the sky.

On an empty day, the heart
wants for nothing. Radiance
pours abundance into each
instant of being, light's high
testimony chasing ghosts
of memory, sea's great chasm
surrendering to shore's sandy
welcome and the naked dance
of wind in wild palms.

An island alone accepts the risk
of solitude as evening illuminates its own blue glow
and the perfect silence of the stars fills the dark
with its own sweet comfort.

do you hear the sirens call?
soft and low
on hidden shores

something strange and beautiful
that breaks the silence
of my soul

it echoes
back through space and time
and I refract it
like a diamond

interact
with all that I am

beckon me to worlds unknown

when the world is full of sound and fury
I may turn away
as if it never changed my mind
this melody entombed in time

and still that echo in my soul
comes back to me when I am lost and cold
a candle at the crossroads
when I need to read the signs

I was going to bring my pet hamster tonight.
Anyone met my pet hamster - Picasso?
He is an impressionist.
No, honestly he does all the other rodents :-
Mice, rats, capybara, Donald Trump, Prince Andrew, all of them.
Unfortunately I couldn't bring him,
because he died this afternoon.
He fell asleep at the wheel.
This was a short stand-up comedy introduction I did at the beginning of the Spoken Word Open Mic that I organise, run and host.

I Wonder where
I Might wander to
If i had a friend or
two To wander Too
Words make me wonder. They really  make me think. Did i use it right or is it rite? How are we to know that a k in front of n o w will make the sound no but add a w to no and we have now. Thats the easy part. English is hard.

Again, with those lights in the sky.

Ghost like jellyfish that float on by.

They fly so high they become the stars.

I see ships pass by shaped like cigars.

What begins to make sense makes no sense at all.

The starlight resonance is simply just a cosmic call.

All this from nostalgia and thinking ahead.

Listening to music while I lay in bed.

It takes a storm
To know the strength of the winds
No more gentle as the breeze

It takes a storm
To make the calm and silent waves swell
A lesson it must teach

It takes a storm to know
Past is done, do not dwell
Gentler waves now touch the shore

For the storm too knows
Finite it is, in its entirety
Lose it must, to the tree of will

It takes a storm to know your strength
It takes a will of the tender tendrils
To sway with the winds
And stay still in the storm

When the mind awakens, the world comes alive,
But when the mind falls asleep, so does the world,
So who makes the world, this star studded tapestry we see?
Is it not the world crafted by our minds?
The universe takes shape within our minds.
