I strung up Christmas lights on the trees in my mind
and haven’t taken them down yet.

Today my Mom
gave
me some good
news
the test results
read
that cancer didn't
spread
through her entire
body;

I can rest
easy
knowing that she's
okay.

the sun is raining
penetrating through dark clouds
it summons goodness

You hold pain in your palms
Like water lilies it floats around
You guard it with your fingers
But as time tells tales of broken pasts
Nothing can stop the rain
From washing the lilies away
