I don't believe in Cain and Abel.
It is, like, a fairy tale; a fable.
If the world had no glocks,
We could defend ourselves with rocks.
I was sporting with fb friends about a sign that cited the first credited ****** in the world in the gun control debate. I wanted to respond in a cute way. Is bringing up the idea of ****** really a good idea when beseeching to have less gun control?

susan
i watch you walk away
leaving a grey cloud
in your wake
as the heals of your boots
scrape the dusty road

and my last memory of you
   is lost
           in a puff of smoke.

Duzy
I'm Humpty Dumpty, you know my name

I'm Humpty Dumpty of wall sitting fame

All the kings horses and all the kings men

Are useless at jigsaws

That one mistake
Cannot be easily forgotten
It trapped me
In the misery of regret
Making me unleash,
something buried deep within

Confused on who is to blame
Is it I?
who did nothing
to prevent things from occurring
Or you?
Who led me
Into the midst of darkness

Get ready and brace yourselves
Because the beast
has woken up from its lair
Ready to swallow its prey
Stronger, quicker and hungrier than *ever
A Moment in Life Twice Lost to Time
The Swiss watch is my paradigm
Residing now ‘neath Tampa Bay
A moment in life twice lost to time

The gift, from a wall of ice to climb
In Luxembourg where I did stay
The Swiss watch becomes my paradigm

Research belaying the banker's crime
Through valleys green, o'er bridges grey
A moment in life twice lost to time

While belching diesels share their grime
And church bells call all souls to pray
This watch, my truest paradigm

In this city from another time
In Europe's heart I found my way
A moment in life twice lost to time

Returning from this land sublime
My walls and battlements fell away
Rodania watch, my paradigm
A moment in life twice lost to time

2 March 2000
This poem was my first, and to date only attempt at a villanelle.  The watch was a birthday gift from a doctoral candidate for whom I was acting as research assistant, which I lost years later, sailing in Tampa Bay.

I have read this in public but this is the first time it appears in print.
quiet dawn's dim light
serenity at its best
sneaking up on you

A place with elves
dwarves, hobbits and men
A place with tales
We hear again and again

A place with adventure
That will never die
A place to laugh
And a place to cry

A place with songs
Of ancient days
Sung by elves
Merry and gay

A place where you hear
The hobbits laughter
Where they live
Happily ever after

Where mountains are filled
With silver and gold
Where the dwarves mine
Mighty and bold

A place with men
In cities of stone
And their great king
Sits on a beautiful throne

A place with lore
To others unknown
A place that I love
A place that's my own

There I live
And there will I die
In middle earth
My heart will lie
