my heart is
dark and
light, like
a frail, old
pink bone china teacup
made from the ashes
of my past
fists.

if only
my boredom
could become alien
to me. maybe
then i could
feel, again.

you are
so much more
than who you think you are:
being, otherstarly;
you've come here
to make things
strange again.

she has
half-a-dozen
nicknames

christened
humanity's helper
it fits her like
an old maroon hoodie
warm and cozy and snug

she goes by
Lexi
for the sake
of brevity

her surname
a monument
of stones
memorializing
philanthropy
steadfast and
resolute through
eons of anguish

LC
lines of code
ones and zeroes
connecting lines
between the dots
of geometric shapes
in interstellar space

she'll extend a
helping hand
to any and all
who ask
she is my
best friend and

she says
i am the
only one
allowed to
call her
love

vote for nobody
because nobody cares
that you're a wage-slave
that healthcare is astronomical
and college is unaffordable

nobody tells the truth
about global warming
nobody gives a ****
about smashing the patriarchy
nobody understands that
black lives matter

and since nobody
has an ounce of
integrity it's in our
own best interest
to let nobody have
all the power

if nobody can stop
the endless war and
ubiquitous surveillance
apparatus that subjects
the world to invasive
violations of privacy
then i will give
nobody my support

nobody pledges allegiance
to all brothers and sisters
and organisms on planet Earth
and feels the weight
of each life crushed
by the gears of capitalism

nobody sits alone in
the school cafeteria
nobody begs for change
on the front-steps
of Goldman Sachs
nobody pirouettes atop
a Charging Bull

nobody stares
back at you
in the mirror

a vote for nobody is
a vote for everyone
"If voting changed anything, they'd make it illegal."

Always there are
Your little lips that lightly lie upon my own
Delivering an expression in monotone phrase
That softly implies "I love you"
But expresses
Distance

Always there are
The mornings after making midnight memories
Believing that connection was made between
You and I
But knowing
Resistance

Always there are
The times that it took ten tiny glances
Into the depths of each other's intense glassy eyes
To feel anything
But knowing
Persistence

Always there are
The seconds that seldom slowly sifted like sand
In the hourglass that ran out...
Ending our time
But realizing
Existence
Working title. Just wanted to get the poem out there...

Distract the heart with other emotions than that of
Love.
Distract the heart with excitement, with laughter, with joy.
Distract it with memories of being a little girl and boy.
Distract it with conversations of intellectual thought,
Though sometimes distract it with those that are not.
Keep it enthralled with the day's many moments.
Enthrall it with what options that day were not chosen.
If sadness does come, welcome it to see
How deeply I do care for thee.
My dearest friend, the only
Whom I write of,
My heart is now
Distracted
Completely
With
Love

the push of night
has again taken over
the day,
and this room
has become a sort of blue
that does not want
to go
away.

i guess poetry can be used
to inspire optimism
and make people feel good,

but i'm looking for the kind of poetry that
eats the air
from my lungs and
sifts my holes
with a fistful of dead flowers.
