Summer surrenders sunlight to snow, so slow;
in shades of yellow and red reposed,
autumn’s amber drove.
Into the cold and winter’s wanton woes
restlessness still blows;
despite the icy bite unavoidably exposed,
now a blooming green, in memory still glows.
Through longer nights and silent sleeted sorrows
by keeping close a wealth of warmth from yesterdays ago, I’ve borrowed;
I close my eyes today and dream, now of tomorrows.
Can't believe I wrote this 9 years ago... this used to be one of my best poems (and is probably one of maybe two from 7+ years ago that aren't awful ****)... wild to see how much my style has changed (and my poetry has improved) over the last 9 years.

i felt hands pour
out of the clouds
and touch the puffy summit of skin
under my eyes
laying fingers on the raw peaks
of my cheeks
tracing the footprints
of blotchy red tears
down to the collection point
evaporating the water
soon returned to the heavens

does the cycle ever end?
does the cycle ever end?
(i'm collected in the clouds)

only when you're dead!
only when you're dead!
(it's rainy season again)

The road is long and the load is heavy
But when I traveled with you it didn't matter.
I didn't think about the heat or the pain.
It wasn't any easier but it became almost fun
Like a game we'd play, the point didn't matter.
Now by myself I can't see a point.
It's long and painful and the joy is gone.
And as I keep walking, it never gets better.

all have gone far and wide
there, a fair distance away
where no eye spy nor stray
only hindsight dare confide
even sproutlings coy in Spring
no fresh joys will they bring
still from Sun, buds cannot hide

September is saying farewell

I was wedged between blue leather, scribbling axes into the shape of question marks; and you were laid on blue woven wicker, snoring and many miles away.
Now, I am sinking into fluffy blue polyester; and you are sleeping on a table carved of icy blue steel.
It is strange, isn't it?
I did not know you then, I will never know you now.
Reflections of childhood bubbling after a death in the family.

in my dreams and idle violence
I imagine that I’m loved and lovely,
that she rests upon my chest in silence,
her breath testing the finiteness
of my heart that ticks defiantly.

so tricky are these fickle dreams,
I hear no real beat beneath my bones.
where the river goes, so do the boats,
and daylight has decreed
that we are gone the way of ghosts.
