on winter's chill eve
robins ploughed a flight path
through the firm cold air

Unpolished Ink
A fjord of tears
waters land that now lies fallow
because of the land mines
beneath the soil and the waving flowers
that no-one dares to pick
beyond the wire
where a boot is slowly bleaching
that is the true meaning of a warcry!

Even when all
the ruby shards
and splinters
had vaporised,

I’d pretend
to gather
invisible
broken pieces

outlined in chalk.

Rest in pieces
For we cannot be destroyed
We are the dust of the universe
Never fully swept away
Our spirits rising into the vastness of space
Searching for the next adventure
Seeking a new vessel of travel
Relativity non existent
A heartbeat in fate

at least the clouds are
smiling back

they have faces and
souls
and they stare back from their
blue canvas,
down on his *****, snot-smeared face

It’s a warm
sunny day
but the
bottom of the shallow, dry well
is cold and full
of critters

Well, no problem. The sky is so
pretty with all its smiling
faces that he
won’t even cry. He’ll stay there
and look up. Still waiting
for mother to return and
pick him up

Still waiting

Smiling back at the clouds

Still waiting

In depths too heavy
I held your hand
But it would never be enough

Carrying my mind
And weighted hearts
Across this vacant plain

There's an exhaustive introspection
In the light behind our eyes
Yet we stay silent in the wake
Of another sleepless night

I will never get there–
The place I need to be
I curl up and find some comfort
Somewhere far away from me

I laid my secrets in the shadows
That follow where I lead
But now my steps are growing weaker
And they're tugging back at me

I thought I spoke into oblivion
The words cut off at my teeth
I fed them to my shadows
And now my shadows feed on me
