( Sonnet )*

Our time flicked with drops of summer,
The numberless nodes, mellow cicadas,
Pixelated a world swirling of music—
All dates, sweet tabulations of primes,

The savours swelling in fragrant breeze,
The still waters of pond mist and flame,
How your eyes, with mine, gazed into—
O sleepy windows of eyes being born,

Flowers made a bed and we drank it all,
The light of the sun as it passed in grace
And the birds sang songs of remembrance,
Water fell but once from mothering skies,

Wind whined, such days could never last,
One flesh of burgeoning— moon in the grass.

Tea
I believe I drink more tea than alcoholics drink alcohol
And it makes me drunk
In its own way
And I fear it would ruin my teeth
The way alcoholics fear it would ruin their liver
But we drink it anyway
Until the damage is too clear to ignore
I look at the mirror and see how terrible my teeth have become
As an alcoholic holds his stomach in pain
And we both go for another glass

What need have we for temples of stone,
when we have the stars and sky?
All are equal under this roof...
the wind in the trees is union,
and you and I, love.

If a tree falls
When no one's around
How do we know
If it still makes a sound?
If a star disappears
And no one sees it go
Then how, I ask you
Did we know it ever glowed?
If a girl hides her pain
And pretends that she's fine
How will anyone know
That she's dying inside?

In your arms, I'm most comfortable
It feels like we're two pieces of a whole
And we have melted together
It feels like I'm floating on the calm ocean
And it scares me
Because at any moment,
The seas could be violent
And I could drown
