For you, I would reach up and pick the stars, as flowers of the night

Gathering near, gathering far
Lost in the wonder of what you are

I would fetch the clouds and stitch them together
A coat for your fears
Amid inclement weather

No torrid rain
No howling wind
Nothing could harm or chill you again

I say now as a man-
All that I am, was, and ever will be
Is yours for the taking

For you, my heart, my spirit, my soul
My love, for the breaking
sky
i.

drunken in my pockets,
the day whispers to the trees that
pin to you, albatross
of a wind-swept sea loosening
feathers and heart-beats in
short, death-caught seconds.

ii.

gorgeous girl of height,
your caves are bright mysteries
your light an elephant's graveyard
of grey.

iii.

bitter note of earth,
you anchor birth
to our eye sockets, unwrap
mint and honey from the hills.

iv.

uneasy mistress,
dark daughter of sight,
sunk into all the corners of the world
you break like string,
you break and i break with you.

v.

vignette of ivy-coloured dreams,
sunny trail, you break my heart and
glue it back, sigh and sigh like a viking raider
conjured out of porcelain
and rose-water.

vi.

warrior of distant planes,
dense harbour of a lonely city,
landscape of water, unravelled
in an instant, a velvet
ribbon tied into a bow.
I imagine you reside in the shadows of the stars
If not there, then somewhere very rare, and far
Perhaps in the dunes, or the ruins of Mars
To be perfectly sure, you're  heaven carved
There's a spark about you that lights up the dark
Upon you, heaven's very kiss has made its mark
I long to leave this world and be with you
Wherever you are
Clatter clutter on the pave, feet on the run
furrowed brows faces grave, life is no fun
home to work work to home, time is so mean
to and fro on the track, heads in a spin.

Red for the pedestrian, green for the car
quicker may save the day, sights are a blur
conspires the digit light, ticks ever slow
holds up adds to fright, the cruel red glow.

Just on the other side, a few blocks more
you are late again, ears hear the roar
had they only known, the hurdles on the way
the daily mad struggle, to save the day's pay.

The road is clear now, on a quick glance
here's the time to move, grab the prized chance
clatter clutter on the pave, feet on the run
blood spreads on the tar, redder in the sun.
I know something of the rhythms and melodies of pain
First this way, then that
Soaring, falling, roaring, stalling

Planed out planes on a higher plane
Wraith trains shaking fate's chains in vain

Devilish desperados with desperate names
play desperation games
inside my veins

The eyes of their horses hidden by their manes
The thoughts of their voices pounding my brain
These are the sounds and the songs of rain

Rain is still rain by any other name
Waters will recede while floods will remain
Each separately singing equally stinging refrains
Nothing cuts deeper than these canyons of shame

Certainly, I know things concerning the rhythms and melodies of pain
And of four-legged creatures wholly untamed
Racing blood-soaked, unbridled, unreigned
Their clippety-clop clamorings running 'round my brain
These are the sounds and the songs of rain

I see her in hooded head
Walking by in the night
The dusked shadows dewy in thought

Rumors fill my inquirious desires
As she transcends the vacuous light
Dare not I to ask where you go

She fills me full of fright

But alluring to me like catalepsy
Mewing the cats-eye of my discontent
Then around upon the angled corner

My phantasmagoria bent

Sky I  see, in blue, in sky, in white, in cloud
Bits of grey, scattered within, also in there
Scattered thoughts, perhaps soft pattering rain
Sounds unexpected, echo in my ears

Buzzards drift, uplifting, to warm east winds
Dragons as flies, butter as flies too
Peacock in azurite, fanned out to full
Littles aflutter, in all branches near

Winds catch soft breeze, just right, a good cool feel
Deer strolling into verdant far land
Crows with caw of a disturbed picnic lunch
Minnows dappling pond's water,  glass clear

This is sacred sight, which when I turn old
All blind, I expect, I will too soon miss
Unable to gaze, upon peace
with my squinting pair, of sky hazed blue eyes
