I didn't say goodbye
I couldn't find the strength
No, I took the cowards way
And slipped out in the rain
I had a lot I wanted to say to you
About the way I've been feeling
I decided I couldn't say it
Out of fear your response interrupts my healing
Maybe you'd have begged me to stay
Or worse you'd have urged me to go
Neither response would be what I want
So I had to leave without letting you know
I know in my heart we will never speak again
There's part of me that hopes that isn't true
But I expressed my goals and intentions
Whatever does, or doesn't, come next,
Will be up to you.
my sweet baby Caesar
orange fur flying around
deep grumbly purr
light green eyes
judgmental and cuddly
introverted and quiet
you were taken far too soon
we'll miss you buddy
my caesar salad
my gingersnap snickerdoodle
my chicken nugget
we love you Caesar
rest easy now
the pain you were in is gone
yesterday my cat's lungs collapsed and we had to put him down

i took an empty envelope
and mailed it off to you
it told you of my feelings
more than a letter could ever do

please don't get me wrong
i'm really not that cold
i did try to write that letter
but this empty envelope here alone
in a way says so much more…

~
Sugar wife,
slipping husband,
massaged honeymoon flesh
wrapped in cellophane.

The sound of a water clock
cascading down
her mysterious frontage.

Handprints on
the glass pane
opaque with remnant steam.

Let your eyes
be your guide,
when dressed in
the tiniest temptations,
she catwalks into the room
with a novel idea for two.
