I say I miss you
You say you miss me to
Like it's some sort of game

You don't understand
You most likely never will

The longer we are apart
A little piece of me dies
The longer we are apart
A part of me fades away

I took the girl with me to Lexington
At the bus station we ate peacefully
a snack from the vending machine

and I bought her a ticket
for the 11-hour ride to Chicago
Maybe I saved her
sixteen years old, hitchhiking

on a dark Kentucky road
going to say hello to her grandma
she said, and I still worry about her
she said, and I
still worry about her

I'll never see my age times two
Which means I'm more than half way through
This beautiful life I've built with you

Things have been rearranged
There're not as they were
Universal disruptions
Right here on earth
Memory recalls
Stripped from our minds
Where ever life leads me
I note it in rhyme!
