Maybe it's been written
somewhere in the constitution
     of the waning moon

                                         ― When somebody loves you,
you can never be lonely ―

But, appearances
  to the contrary,
the moon is sometimes blue;

counting stars alone
in a sky full of stars

is just about as lonely
as 'once in a blue moon'
                              can be ―

Like when the night is yours alone
                  or feeling alone
               in a crowded room

hearing Hank Williams moan within your silence
"I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry"

― When it's hard to say
                                               you love someone,..
                                               but it's harder to say
                                               when you don't ―

                • • •

A coyote's pleading howl
breaks the silent twilight engulfing trance
cast by the dappled moonlight;
like there's some kind of lonely madness
    swallowing him whole,..

                     as
    these two hollow eyes
                 gaze out through
                                     the chilly,
                                            sobering
                                                 refreshed
                                                   Autumn air
                                                                 spilling
                                                                  in through
                                                            the open window,

                                                                   counting stars ― alone
in a sky full of stars

                                                                    the crackle of the fireplace
                                                                   echoes, startling the silence
                                                                         of a feigned warmth
                                                                          from the other side
                                                                 of an otherwise hollow room

and i feel frayed as a hole in an empty pocket with nothing left to lose

the impending dark winter nights are lonesome
and  linger longer than before ...

seeing the empty space beside me
I remember how it really really aches to just be ...

Lonesome as a Blue Moon
Written by:  h.a. rivers
i sit unbothered
as my insides have become
artfully intertwined into knots
so much so my sweet dearest grand-mother could
crochet a winter quilt with these guts of mine

how i wish our public educational system
would have enlightened our youth

enlightened us

enlightened us, that there would be days such as this
brooke constantino
now when I think of love I want to puke,
the thought literally makes me sick to my stomach because I know now what it does to a person

how you lose yourself in someone else and then all of sudden you can't breathe anymore without them

I am promising myself to never be that stretched again,
to give myself a try for once, relying only on my intuition and will to power through life and relationships, never getting too blind to see things as they really are

I wanna know what it's like to be so good alone that the earth shatters when I take a step,
electricity radiates from my skin and my soul is so loud it shouts through my eyes
poems are not all
sunshine and
rainbows

sometimes,
just sometimes
we have to ****
in the bathroom
sink of beauty
to find out how
repulsive it can be
underneath

I find the soap ****
of the shower drain
to be more enriched
with adorning features
than the palm trees
of florida

art
and all forms of it
are inexhaustible,
you could never
take that away,
including this
ugly
ugly
ugly
poem
Art needs its balance
Hello.
I am the trending poem.
you see me and I make you feel alive
so you like me and re-post me
then you leave me alone to die.
Hello,
I am your forgotten lines.
you created me with a careful love
                                                          and decisive rhymes
and then to the bottom of your page I'm shoved.
Hello
I am forgotten, alone and unloved
a faded smile a broken dove
                                               I once was beautiful, touching.
now, I've been replaced, I'm nothing.
I hear nothing but black and flickers of dimed candles
Shadows and I waltz
For they do not judge me
Of course my demons’
How did I become this deranged
Nothing but black
This bed-linen now
A blushing civil war
It tickles me pink
Or maybe it
Helps me recognize
That my crazy is ******* gorgeous
Yet sickening
Are you happy?
Sun up till sun down
It’s cold now, and so am I
I see you every where
In every thing
In every one
In the tiny wrinkles that rest upon my Antarctic like hands
The car that cut me off this morning
The lumps stuck in my throat when someone asks how you are
The chilly 5 minute walk to my vehicle on the hill
In the empty space that haunts me every night when I close my eyes
It’s cold, but so are you
Am I that easy to escape ones memory?
