The sinner
Evelyn Feb 2018
You told me
that God is love
oh tell me mamma,
did you lie to me?

I'm good, actually
I met the person of my dreams
do you miss me?

You said things
about being kind
and then you forced me to leave
for the kind of girl I am

You know, dad used to kiss me
before bed
now he doesn't even care
if I am okay

And I'm sorry but I am not
how you can say that
God loves us all
and the call a problem
the woman I love?

Parents should protect
their children at all costs
but when I opened my heart
you both told me it wasn't right
and then falling in love became
falling apart

How dare you blame her?
she doesn't feel ashamed
and she never leaves me alone
how can you judge her?
she wasn't the one that
left at my worst

So I'm sorry but I'm not
and if you still ask me to leave her
I will pray for you

and if you really believe
that God is love
practice what you preach
and maybe one day
I'll visit the place
I used to call home.

Journey
Evelyn Mar 2018
She could have given up
but she picked up a guitar
instead of that

Everything was on fire
Home stopped being a safe place
where to go when you are told
you are what's wrong?

If you hear how she sounds
you will understand
You may feel the pain
and you may want to cry
but she kept saying
"you have to try"

Art saves us all
and that's exactly what she does
when she gets the microphone

She has something
you can teach or buy

I swear
as she opened her mouth
I quickly realized
that many of us
needed that voice,
that advice

Sometimes you just
don't feel strong enough
but you can take her words
and make them yours

I know it can get
hard sometimes
and is really easier to
take the dark path

But now I'm sure that
even when you are alone
there's no need to think that's all
'cause there's always
a message of hope

She once told me
Keep writing
keep feeling
keep sharing
and never give up

And those words
made me smile

Life is a journey
of obstacles

And I think,
I remember my past...
my life was a mess

I could have given up
but instead
I wrote about what
made me feel bad
I wrote this inspired by Stephanie Rice - if you don't know who she is you can search her name in youtube -
I am a huge fan of her and her words resonates with me 'cause writing is my outlet as well and I think that's what saved me from the worst moment of my life. Art can saves us.
