the dirty poet
you can’t come out ahead
not with death picking your pocket
on your way out the door
but maybe you can balance the equation
reconcile the molecular weight
of the positive and negative
like the moon tonight
it’s a perfect glowing circle
the moon is a balanced equation
your life can be the same
if the wind blows your way

by that measure
this year was a mindblower

if there’s a perfect segment of your life
put it on the wall
and charge yourself admission
like i’m doing right now
i straddle the planet
and scoff at my helpless emotion
i scrape up any tears i cried
spit them at passing airplanes
and balance the astonishing equation

it works

Why is poetry dying
when we still have the gift?
If we still have water
then we still have a ship.
We can sail to the places
these words take us.
We are still shaken
by the words that make us.
Why should we let poetry die
when there is so much to explore?
If only people read it
and discovered more.

I cover myself within
The darkness of life
To see your
Illumination of LOVE

I throw myself
Down the valley
For me to know your peaks

I drown myself in your abyss
To soar in your skies

I become your sunset
For your moon to rise

I cry in your longing
So that I can feel
Blessed in your LOVE

I try not to show my sadness
So that YOU can feel happy

I make myself wrong
So that you can be right

I design my fall
So to cherish your rise

I make myself fail
So admire your success

I isolate in solemn silence
So that you can speak and write
Your wisdom through me

I hide behind dark clouds
So that you can
Become my silver lining

My heart remains wet and eager
So that you can shine
Your RAINBOW across my soul

I castaway from the world
To drift towards your island

Your smile knocks me down
So world can raise
Your hand in victory

I take a step back
So that you become
My protective armor

I remain thirsty of your LOVE
So you can quench my thirst

YOU keep me away
Yet allow me to know you
Like no one else does

YOU show so much LOVE
So to make me surrender
My EGO in your devotion

I've become darkness of life
For you to show me your
Illumination of LOVE....

YOU are my Angel in Disguise

I'm not as young as I used to be
But not old enough to be mature
I do realize now my mistakes
Hurting my parents, many times I'm sure

So many emotions growing up
Love, happiness, sorrow and pride
I thought I knew everything about life
Not realizing how long the ride

The more I grow older
The less I know
Life and it's lessons
My parents tried to show

Stubborn and bitter
The feeling of resent
Now that I have children
I know what my parents meant

Unconditional love
Looking what was best for me
When I look at my children
With my parents eyes I now see

To my parent I'm sorry
For all the pain that I caused
If I become half the parent you were
My life I would applaud

an airplane is an escape from gravity
a parachute is a compromise
jumping off the ground is protest
and laying down is surrender
a trampoline is a tease
and all the elevators are going up today
none coming down
so up we go
