Sun
The Sun is just another
In an endless sky of stars
If we saw it from far away
Would we know it was ours?

It isn't too remarkable
In any special way
An ordinary little star
That rides the Milky Way

But when seen from our point of view
The Sun is like a god
So wonderful, so full of light
So powerful, so hot

It's bright enough to light the sky
And paint it blue and gold
It shines on us, it grows the plants,
It warms us when we're cold

I think we would love any star
That brought us so much light
But our Sun is the only one
That shines on us this bright

Sometimes the ones who look
Ordinary from far away
Will dazzle you if you will
Just give them the time of day

To: Past Me
From: Future You

Hello, my past self.
I hope you’re doing well.
But then again,
I know you’re not.
Because I was you,
And you are me.

I know about all the smiles you’ve had to fake.
I know about all the silent tears your pillow is stained with.
I know about all the people you’ve loved and all you’ve lost.
I remember it all.

But listen,
It doesn’t get easier.
You will still go through hard times.
People will still leave you.
You will still feel sad sometimes.

It may not get easier...
But you do get stronger.
Strong enough to overcome it all.
The pain.
The tears.
The obstacles.

Small things won’t hurt you anymore.
Every rock in your way will turn into a pebble.
People will go and others will come.
But you'll be alright.

You’ll grow stronger.
You'll be wiser.
You'll get bigger (not in height though, we shall always be 5’2)
It may not get easier but you will be happy.
Of that I am sure.

So past self I tell you.
Dry your tears. You’re not alone.
You’ll be surprised of all you’ll overcome.
                                                                                         Love,
                                                                                         Future You ;)
In youth we assume that things will get easier as we grow up. In reality, the strength we gather throughout the years is what helps us overcome anything. But then again this is only my opinion. Feel free to message me. Ill be glad to hear you out :)

I had forgotten...
How sunny it was that day
When I first met you
And you shyly said “Hey”

I had forgotten...
How your face turned red
when you asked me out.
You didn’t care who was watching.
You said it loud and proud.

I had forgotten...
How good the movie was
on our first date.
How much we laughed.
And how much we ate.

I had forgotten...
How warm your hand was.
And how comforting
your hugs were.

I had forgotten...
How beautiful you smiled.
And how you would say
“I Love You” everyday.

I had forgotten...

I simply had forgotten...
How much I loved you.
Even after we parted ways.
I didn’t realize how much
Until you went away.

We are just visitors
For a brief time
Travelling through a few milestones
Our time is finite
Our interactions are finite
So, why have an ego
Which is also finite?
Let us be friends with the world
With the people, plants
Trees and climbers
With the butterflies
And the beasts as well
Since our journey is finite
Make Life as easy as possible
And make it merry as well..
Leave a few sweet memories
For those who come after us.

Wondering what I should write
and floundering in my own confusion
I thought – why not write about poems
that set me thinking what poems are
A poem could be anything.......!
at best, distilled thoughts put into rhyme
or a moment caught in time
a window glimpse into the world
an engrossing passion’s ardent curl
a snap shot of scenes from Nature- wild
or a slice of life, birth or death

sometimes it could be a yearning
or an image long hung on a pole
a thought turned inside out
or the emptying of a mind about to spill
it could be the liberation of a fancy,
for long held in thralldom
a gnawing pain, long suppressed
or a secret, never divulged

As I pondered over the subjects’ enormity
and a poem’s vast scope,
I asked myself- ‘Why hesitate?’
soon I felt a stir inside,
my thoughts broke loose
a terrible block lifted off my head
my silence became audible
I embroidered these thoughts
into the pattern of a poem

Here it is before you, have a look at it
Will it annoy you or will you enjoy!
Recently I have been running short of subjects to write a poem. The writer's block weighs me down. Reading the beautiful poems of my friends here, I long to write something. Finally I thought I should write a poem on a Poem
