I have been absorbing darkness
For a long time
Painting my burning rays
Across where you could not see
Do you feel lighter
Now that you are illuminated
I was not hungry
But I have swallowed up your sins
Spit them out as blessings
For you to feast
It hurts to heal
But I will not make it
Any harder than it has to be
I am here for your journey
You will never know
The role you play in mine
I could find you
Blind and mute in the dark
I would not even struggle
I only wonder
Why you lost me to begin with
There is no grievance between us
I will seek you
Until you are whole again
I am all the broken pieces
Of anyone I have ever loved
I am all your pain and your guilt
I am your fears and bitter truth
I am the voice of reason
Telling you, you are worthy
Taking your pitiful currency
As gold
I am the temple
The offering
I am the unburdened
Go, and be light
You are free
Even of me
Letting go, is a practice.

You knew I would never be evil
Never be cruel to you
What you did not know
Is that once you are evil to me
Once you are cruel
I will never allow
You the opportunity to do it again
There is strength in my silence
When I find weakness in your words

one year from now…
the thought of your hands grazing over my skin,
or the sound of your laughter after i tell a bad joke,
the way your eyes become so much smaller when you smile,
or the reminiscences of your cologne in my car,
the taste of your tounge as it brushes over mine,
it won’t make me ache,
because one year from now,
i won’t know the you that i so desperately want to have now.

Terrified of my own instincts
I lie awake, staring at the night
Frozen, unsure, whether to start or stop
To wake or to succumb, to disappear
In this coffin, I lie, within my grave
But I hold the shovel
Can I dig myself out?
Or do I shut myself in?

She sits in her chair
She sips her hot tea
She looks out the window
She longs to be free.

She could open that door
But her hand quivers so
She’s scared of the life
That she doesn’t well know.

So she sips and she sits
And she looks on the street
And wonders and worries
About the people she’d meet.

One day the door opens
She could go out and see
But she sips and she sits
Yet she longs to be free.

Caged

Her hands are stained with past mistakes
Her tears are thick with rage
She is helpless as her weak heart breaks
She’s stuck inside this cage.

She’s felt this many times before
She fears it’s much too late
Too scared to strive for something more
She hides behind her fate.

The room around her closes in
She sits motionless and weeps
Watching the depression win
Only happy when she sleeps.

If she wanted she could leave her hell
But she just won’t turn the page
Too scared to leave what she knows so well
Stuck inside this cage.

This is a fun little game game we play
You break my heart
And I leave you alone

I've been trying to write a poem a day,

Today,

however,

it seems I've nothing to say,

Except to say,

I've nothing to say,

Which is to say,

Sometimes, the words don’t come.

The consistent stream of consciousness, ceases.

I am left with nothing to say.

There is a beauty in the broken mind.

Like an abandoned building taken by nature.

It is not that my mind does not work.

It is that it works too fast,

And I am left behind,

Scrabbling in the dust,

Desperately seeking a connection,

In the discarded fragments of thought.

I am fighting a losing battle.

I fear the white flag will soon arise.

And signal the end.

To say I'm new to the scene
Would be an understatement, of extremes
I've watched men rise; I've seen them fall
Still, I've yet to see it all
From here on out to Kingdom come
I will do it all in love

No matter how hard the daily climb
I'll make sure I am the light
Pointing to a path that's straight
Helping those to see the way
The ties that bind, secure the knot
I will do it all in love

For the cause I won't grow faint
Giving of myself away
The time that's set is ever short
In the coming of the Lord
From here on out Thy will be done
I will do it all in love
