Her belly's smooth
As it is sweet
Traversing it's curves
As if they were streets

I get the green light
Down Belly Button Way
Go left or go right
On Satin Thighways

Approaching the merge
I swerve toward the left
She's right on the verge
My hand at her cleft

She wiggles and squirms..
Then shrills with delight
I hold the wheel firm
And drive through the night

Saturday Night Surf

We use to Surf
On Saturday nights
The Surf Ballroom
Up a thousand flights

Didn’t Hang Ten
But did Tighten Up
Did the Funky Chicken
And built up buttercup

Blue suede shoes
Silk stripe pants
Looking like peacocks
Ready to dance

We had Utopia
The Pilgrims
Rockin’ Ramrods too

When The Technique’s
Played Shotgun
All understood

This would be our last dance
So do it now
And do it good

My old dance hall days
School Of Life

Never travelled
’Round the world
But been
Around that block

Never really
Finished school
But read a
Many book

Didn’t chef
Le Cordon Bleu
But surely
I can cook

Didn’t train at
Juilliard
But feet danced
All they could

Never been to
Prison
But did
My own time

By building up
So many walls
In my
Own mind

It isn’t where ya
Went to school
It’s all in
Where ya been

I’ve been around
So many folks
Who’ve taught me
How to live

Senior Serenade

I want to be alright
For the rest of my life
Have no more fears
On my coming years

Just have a home
I can call my own
With my own kitchen
Do my own cookin’

Just to live carefree
As free as I can be
Not a care for rent
In my retirement

Just to be at peace
With no enemies
Be a caring friend
To everyone I can

Yes, I’m getting old
And my fate’s untold
But if I had a wish
My wish is just for this…

I want to be alright
For the rest of my life
Have no more fear
On the coming years

Shall we dance
Take another chance

Shall we try again
With hopes it won't end

Let us dance
And dance real slow

Learn all our steps

So truly
We'll know

SHOUT
I will not be silent
I must speak out
It is my country
So I will SHOUT

Silence gives strength
To the unjust
Silence is a noose
For all of the rest

So, let’s all SHOUT OUT
Against all that is WRONG
Let’s all SHOUT OUT
Right voices be strong

Sides

Born into sides
Religious and tribal
Learning quite young
To fear and to rival

If we are Catholic
We hate  the Jews
If we are white
We do as we do

If we are men
We do as we want
If we are women
We’re told that we can’t

If we are black
We’re told to go back
If we are red…
We’re mostly all dead

If we’re ALL Human
We’re on the same side
No one to fear
No need to hide

I’m a humanist
I love all my tribe
Won’t you come join us
Just take the Human Side

Silence

Silence speaks
It’s heard and it’s loud
Not saying a word
Says, I will allow

Silence wobbles
Unsteady it stands
Like a good ostrich
That blends with the sands

Silence is safety
With no point of view
Silence don’t matter
Until it is you

Silence is sneaky
It hides, it evades
It ducks and it weaves
Avoiding THEIR say

Silence is dull
No shine and no glow
Whoever said golden
Knows nothing at all

Silence risks nothing
No skin in the game
Don’t open the door
Just lean on the gate

Silence knows nothing
Don’t ask them the score
Three sleeping monkeys
Know nothing no more

Silence is guilty
Without a defense
The guilt will distill
In all their silence

Smoke rings ring my Father's song
Like floating stanza's
Of years now gone
With forted form
They levitate
Then slowly
Mistily
Dissipate
One of my favorite.
I was inspired to write this after Daniel(I was Daniel Care Giver, he had AIDS related dementia) mentioned that my blowing "Smoke Rings" reminded him of his father who use to blow smoke rings also...

I’m always compelled to help
And give more than I can take
I care for the bullied and beaten
Yet called a weak "Snowflake"

The fact that I care so much
A trait I could never forsake
So demonize and criticize me
And call me a gorgeous "Snowflake"

Hello
My name is Bill
I am a Snowflake
I speak against racism
I am a Snowflake
I care about injustice
I am a Snowflake
I KNOW guns don't **** people
People **** people
I also KNOW if someone has an assault rifle with HIGH CAPACITY CLIPS, they can **** a lot more people in very little time
**** right, I'm a Snowflake
I know donald trump is a travesty
That's right...
I am a Snowflake
I fear Lady Liberty has fallen down
A Snowflake I am
I believe in equal rights for ALL
Snowflake
I care for the child who arrived here with his parents at a young age, went to school here, only speaks English, only knows the United States as home
Call me Snowflake
It tears at my heart to know that a family can travel 100's of miles for a better life, only to have the children taken away from the parents, TAKEN AWAY AND PLACED IN CAMPS
YA, I'm a friggin Snowflake
I use to be a Hippie
Now I'm a Snowflake
Hoping for a BLIZZARD

Solace Of The Willows

"He flew the coop"
Was what they said
Though I knew
Better
Was we who fled
We who cried
We who hid

I lost a dad
A dad
I never had
A dad
Who never cared

I still recall
The willows
Tall
Weeping
Weeping for us all

Blowing to the wind
Giving
Swaying
Whatever comfort
It can

At the doorstep
Of our new home
Told
You’re not welcome
Told
We must go

Broken
To shattered
Then scattered about
"He flew the coop”
While we all bailed out

I’ve always fought
This  “Higher Power”
It then...
Hit Me!
Like
A bell tower

Through out my journey
When **** SHOULD crash
Somebody up there liked me
And ALWAYS
Saved my
***

So if you could please
Look down on me more
I do need
The looking
To show me
Which door

I’ll get on my knees
To thank you
EACH DAY
For all of the lifting
And pointing
The way

And so...
I BELIEVE
In a “Higher Power”
It’s good to
BELIEVE
In this waning hour

I hope you find yours
Don’t give up, geez
I’m now 64
And
Just down on
My knees

One afternoon, as a kid, I stopped to watch a movie that was on in the den with my mother, this was very rare. The movie was Somebody Up There Likes Me with Paul Newman as Rocky Graziano and Joanne Woodward as his wife.
Rocky at one point in the movie realizes that he’s been a very lucky man, many things in many ways could’ve happened to him, but didn’t... during a ticker tape parade Rocky shouts out...”Somebody Uo There Likes Me.”

SOMEONE

Someone's Love
Someone's Kid
Someone's Brother
God forbid

Someone's Ma
Someone's Friend
Someone's Aunty
On the mend

Someone's Pop
Someone's Swoon
Someone's gone
Way too soon

Someone's Daughter
Someone's Son
Someone's Hopes
When all begun

Someone's Sadness
Someone's Fears
Someone's Life
Now
Filled with tears

Summer days
Playful playful playful
Days ablaze
Joyful joyful joyful
Days of rays
Summer days

Peaceful peaceful peaceful
Days of play
Gleeful gleeful gleeful
Good ole days

Summer days
Brightly brightly brightly
Break of day
Sunny sunny sunny
Bright all day

Burning burning burning

Don’t despair
The rain’ll clear
The storm’ll
Change it’s coarse

Sunny days
Are on the way
So unstop
All the corks

Drink up life
With all your might
And don’t look
Back at you

You’ll never know
When you must go
So do all
You can do

Yes indeed
I like taters
With my meat

I like taters
Don't you too
I like taters
In my stew

You like taters
Tell me please
You like taters
With
Cream cheese

Who likes taters
All mashed up
Who likes taters
With Ketchup

I have taters
Everyday
Mashed
Baked
Boiled
With
Gravy

That Smell

That smell I know
But can not place
Is from my youth
A certain space

That smell I know
Is  so familiar
Musty and cold
Like an old root cellar

That smell I know
Brings me right back
Crawling, exploring
But not an attic

Now my nose knows
Like incense in church
That smell I remember
Playing under the porch

The Big Bloat

It’s Not as easy
As you know
Food is legal
And can get
It to go
I find myself
In the same
Bloat
We eat when
Hungry
Or in a
Deep mote
But...
As hard
As it is
To dig out
The rut
We all can
Do it
And have
A good
Gut

I care as you do
With all of my heart
Im worried and frightened
This tears US apart

My gloom

Always here

Since my

Those Days

Those days
Those days
They come to an end
What was back then
Cannot be again
Bottle it up
Sip from it when
You long for
Those days
You thought would not end

Those days
Those days
Were just like that
Memorable times
We’ll never get back
That’s ok
Just dandy with me
Those days
Those days
Are now memories

Those days
Those days
My mothers baked bread
Still smelling swell
Just all in my head
That’s ok
For we all will see
Those days
Those days
Come back in our dreams

Those days
Those days
All those bygones
Treasure them well
They won’t last you long
Embrace what you loved
Forget all the rest
Those days
Those days
Were simply the best

I do declare
My time is near
The day will come
When I'm all done

I cannot climb
Nor can I run
I'm out of breath
My drum beats none

The taxman knocks
I have no more
My skin is rot
And always sore

My car's a wreck
In need of parts
I'm always stressed
If it'll start

My job's driving
The sick around
The job's driving
Me in the ground

It's very clear
My time is here
The day has come
I'm so undone

I eat ravioli
Out of the can
Not because I have to
But
Because I can

I eat ravioli
Out of the can
Chef Boyardi baby
No
Need for a pan

I eat ravioli
Out of the can
Just like I use to
When
Was a young man

When I was a young man
Hitching across this land
I'd eat my Chef Boyardi
Out of the tin can

I’m not sure if I ever believed
I do recall kneeling
At the side of my bed
Back then I also put
Teeth under my pillow
Next day there was a quarter
Proof, the Tooth Fairy was
real
Then of coarse there was the Bunny and The Fatman
Both leaving evidence
Of their existence...
In fact, I’m pretty sure there’s a connection here...
What? There’s no Tooth Fairy? No Bunny?
NO FATMAN!!??
I was told that guy knew when I was sleeping
Even knew how I was behaving
Could perform miraculous
Feats
Well...
If all that and all them were
made up
What of the other guy?
What of his powers?
Did he REALLY know
If I took his name in vain?
Did he even care?
Could he REALLY know everything, everywhere and all times?
In fact, he had a beard too, didn’t he?
I’m not sure if I ever believed
If I did
I didn’t anymore
Even while being forced to church
I hardly went
If I went
I wasn’t there
Believers believe I need to believe something I don’t
I can’t
It’s not in me
And never was
I’m not a fake it till I make it kind of guy
I respect those who do believe
I never question them why
I hope for the same in my disbelief
I’m just not a Godly guy
To believe or not to believe

TOMATO CHASE

Now....
Out of season
They're reddish
Uniform in size & shape
Firm
And flavorless

In season
They're RED
All sizes and shapes
Firm, soft, some just right
And flavorful

Yesteryears
They were magic
Like the transformation of a caterpiller
The little yellow flower
Gives way to the tiny green marble
Stalk n stems grow bigger
Marbles grow larger
The green fuzzy rough stems
The scent
That wonderful smell
So unique to the tomato plant
They turn green to red
Some even get incubated on a sunny sill
When it's time
Knife reveals seeds and red splotched juice
And the TASTE
A taste that fades with our age
That TASTE that we chase every summer
Close
But never a ringer
Nostalgia
Town Full Of Sound

I use to live in
A town full of sound
With Roller Coasters
And Merry Go Round
Horns would blast
To sound an alarm

I use to live in
A town full of sound

I use to live in
A town full of sound
Pinballs were zinging
And barkers would hound
Foghorns were blaring
A mournful fog song

I use to live in
A town full of sound

I use to live in
A town full of sounds
Salt water taffy
Came clacking on down
The bandstand was swinging
Those Glen Miller songs

I use to live in
A town full of sound

I use to live in
A  town full of sound
Where all sorts of music
Played all over town
Screech of the crowd
As the Comet roared down

I use to live in
A town full of sound

Unexpectedly
A picture of her
Is what I did see

This lady in red
And full of charm
Invited me in
With open arms

We lived, We loved
With all our heart
Yet fought like foes
With Martial Art

Back and forth
Forth and back
Our Love unwavering
Forever intact

Whether together
Whether apart
I'll always love her

What are we to do
If it doesn't matter who
What are we to say
If all truth goes astray

They'll say anything
To bring us all in
They'll sell their own soul
To gain full control

We mustn't get divided
With rhetoric so one sided
We mustn't be so fooled
With those who hope to rule

Choose your choice wisely
Don't take your vote lightly
Choose whats in your heart
Don't let US come apart

I walked through that door
They said "please, sit down"
"We've got some bad news,
And it's all over town"

"Someone said something,
And said it was you"
"She said that you touched her,
We know that's not true"

I've always loved kids
In all the right ways
I never looked AT THEM
Not even sideways

Along comes His Ex
His Ex with a grudge
She took my good name
And turned it to sludge

We all were questioned,
By all the experts
Questions that frightened
And questions that hurt

And "NO"was the answer
The little girl said
"Oh, I sat on his lap"
"But!, he only read!"

"Unsubstantiated" was
The word that they used
It stays with you always
A huge mental bruise

Forty years later
I keep them at bay
NO!, It's not right
But how it will stay
I was falsely accused of child ****** abuse back in the 80's..,
Back when all those day cares were being paraded into court on somebody JUST saying so!!
Ruined many a life...
Funny, I'm one of the lucky ones, though I still suffer, always on my guard, trying to insure that I don't leave myself vulnerable to ever having to go through that again.
For someone who Love's children, it's been a life sentence!!

Where we all get to say
Who makes a change
And
Who won’t

Take a good friend
Or one on the mend

Our right
It’s
Their hard fought fight
We owe it to all
So
LET’S VOTE!!

Were You To Be Gone

Could I carry on
Were you to be gone
I guess I can
But do understand

The skies would be blue
But have no more color
Not driving with you
Would lose all of its wonder

Songs would be noise
Losing all of its joy
Sunshine on Leith
Sounding more like a bleat

A walk through the mill
Would only be Bill
No longer as green
A whole different scene

Those rides to nowhere
Would lose all of its flare
I’d hear no more laughs
For my driving gaffs

Going out to eat
Would just be that
No longer sharing
Just me getting fat

Could I carry on
Were you to be gone
I guess I can
Be a man with no plan
Loss of love companionship and sharing

Wingless Bird

I wasn’t taught
Reach for the stars
I never knew
It’s not too far

I knew to stop
Look both ways
And never touch
A burning flame

Encouragement

Survival was

Doctorate in hit
And bachelors in *****

I left the nest
A wounded bird
Then found my wings

I wood walk for leisure
I wood walk for me
I wood walk to listen
To old woods that creak

I wood walk at daybreak
I would walk and breathe
I wood walk and take in

I wood walk and ponder
I wood walk the trail
I wood walk the winter woods
When I want to feel

I wood walk in rhythm
I wood walk alone
I wood walk and listen
As birds sing along

I wood knock on knotted pine
I wood walk right in
And then walk the wooden pews

Words have flavor
Though not eaten
Some are sour
Others sweetened

Words can darken
Teach true hate
Or preach love

Words are sticks
And they’re stones
Can be bricks

Words can color
In many hues
Or make duller
And smear you blue
