I've lost my novelty
I'm no longer the shiny new toy that held your attention
I've lost your interest
I'm no longer that person

You let the sparks fly
And the ignition start
The fire in the pit
Put out in the dark

Now cigarettes are all I taste
Numbing it down with scotch
Tingling sensations
I try not to take it to heart
not life
just the town

in its scale model glory
a whistlestop

where every joke has
a punchline

and business is finished
on the day it's initiated

and nothing dangles
like a pesky past participle

brynna
let me lay a kiss upon your temple

count your freckles, soft skin so simple
short one i found in an old journal
I saw a tall man shatter
A mirror. Memories fell
Like snow, so cold now.

I felt as he cut deep into
His doll with the pieces.
“Slowly now - not too hard”

I watched as my blood
Dripped over the face
Reflected in the shards.

Isolation? Great.
Emotions drive me to ground
Want to yell and curse.

Triste
Even when you're broken
I will still embrace your sharp edges
And with my scarred body
I will love your pieces
