The galaxies above show no sympathy
for our own demise

Do not care of our puny human desires

For they choose not to fall
when we are in need of a wish

Motionless, taunting, uncaring

They shine when the world ends
crying, dying

God told them it wasn't their job to care
Only to watch

See the pain, observe
But do not dare to touch

What a hard life the stars must have

Burned out flames
should never reignite.

Heart in my throat,
it's much too hot for life.

Give me mouth to mouth
and warm my soul.

Take me home,
don't let me fall.

Spiraling out of
control.

This is not about romance,
this is about survival.

The waving static sounds of the wind meandering through the pine trees,

Rising and falling with the wave of dark green hands in the pre-summer air.

Sky still illuminated, sun long set.

The smell of window screens and clouds that have yet to rain,

Vanilla too, from somewhere I don't yet know, Mother Nature perhaps saying hello.

Dogs barking in the far distance and lights across the lake.

Everything seems so much homier now that winter has left us in its wake.
