I wanted to give my mom a home, one befitting of her love and kindness, one that would resonate her love and generosity one not made of cheap bricks of clay
A home where no rent is paid cause she is the landlady, one that exude class and comfort at any given time of the day
A home whose roof isn't made with thatch and bamboo that is soon to be ready to tinder or poorly baked bricks whose cracks offer shelter to lizards and rodents as they grow older
I wanted to give my dad a house made only of the finest stones and building materials
One whose landscape when you see will take your breath away and with it's exquisite recreational area

I worked hard to make and save money. I toiled and toiled oblivious to when the nights turned to day
So the best architects for the plan and sketches upfront I'd pay, survey and purchase a piece of land without delay

The foundation was laid, the harder I worked the faster I watched as the builders beautifully the edifice raised
And when I took my mom one day so see the level of progress we had made, she wouldn't stop showering me with thanks and praise
For the hard work and struggled I had put in to see
A house so beautiful a home to them was soon to be

I smiled as I inspected the furnished house as I proudly said to myself surely "This would make the best home yet for mom and dad"

Sweetly I slept until a loud noise startled me as I was awakened to the sound of sophisticated guns and bombs
I feared for my life as I clutched my knees with my arms trembling, my eyes closed, too scared to pray
The uproar was replaced with a disturbing silence as morning came and still petrified by fear I knew I had to go check the place where the house I built for my parents stood even though my life I knew I would be risking. Well, if I didn't I'm certain curiosity would have killed me either way.
So I ran out and called out to an "Okada"
He asked where I was heading to and I said Farin Gada
"Farin Gada, yarinya? Ba ki jin tsoron rain ki?" He queried in Hausa
So I explained to him that indeed I feared for my life but just needed to check the new high rising estate around that area if it was lucky enough to go unscathed.
He stared at me with worry in his eyes and motioned that I hop on his bike.
It was still very early when I got there and I jumped off his bike before he even stopped it's engine and ran to the place where the newly built house once stood like a maniac looking around, wondering if maybe I had forgotten the address to the place I had visited regularly in the last two years or if someone had moved it to a more secure location for me. I broke down. My eyes rained as my voice thundered through the rubble.
"Tashi in Kai ki gida" I heard the Okada man call out in Hausa. "Is no sape por this flace yi hakuri"
Reluctantly I got up moving slowly through the remains of my parents newly demolished home staring back at the place even as we rode away. The place I invested years of hardwork in order to see my loved ones lay in comfort as they stay "secured".
I broke down again when I tried to tell mom and dad the news and all my dad said as he tapped my back softly was, "hmmm... Mu Seyil Nen Rit, for it could have been worse but for God"
I had a lot to say but I was tongue tied. Our rent was due the next month with no certainty of a means to raise the money to pay up cause we had finished "our own house" and I had resigned from my place of work to run the supermarket I had opened beside the new edifice.
We had stocked the house with provisions and resources that won't run dry for months to come, everything was smooth and perfect until the terrorists attacked..
We were back at zero with no deed or title to our family name.
I was back to sharing the toilet with the other room and our guests and had to share the compound with our lousy neighbor who claims to be a "Pastor"
Mom's warm and gentle arms jolted me back to reality as she held me and said " we appreciate the time, resources, love and effort you put into this project" I cried out and said " it wasn't just a mere project mama, it was your home! A token of my gratitude for your love and selflessness and all the sacrifices you and dad made to make me what I have become"
I heard her sigh as she lifted up my face so I'd look into her eyes as she gently whispered to me"home isn't where bur who" a home isn't broken by plenty or lack, rumors or wars...
So baby do you know who my home is?"
I shook my head side to side as she continued, "it is you, your dad, your siblings, my grandchildren and all whom I have come to love.
I frowned, a little confused with some many questions running through my mind then she kissed my forehead and said "Ritjimwa, Home isn't a place where your heart leaves even when your feet does; Home is where the heart is and my home, is right here in your heart...

Some words in this piece are written in a local  dialect common to the northern regions of Nigeria called "Hausa" and "#MuseyilNen" in a dialect called Ngas from  the central part of Plateau state in Nigeria and it simply means "We thank God"

In the morning
Claudia woke to
Find her lover
Gone.
She want looking for him
Only to see Boris getting his head shaved
One of the monks said in broken English
That he live here
He look the part
They did not tough his piercings
Thank god
She thought but
“He is uniquely handsome with no hair” she thought to
Herself
When they got back to their appartment
He Boris told Claudia
That he wanted marry her
Before he started studying
To be a Lama.
He kissed her gently
And
While kissing Claudia
Ask what his name would
Be
Boris said after they got married
That his name will be Tashi Surya.
Claudia thought
That was gorgeous name
And kissed him.
So the former street urchin
Turn Lana was
Going to be her partner in life
As they made love
After she met with a local
To see were she could open up a school
For her to teach karate
Until the local said to teach
The monks
An idea that she did think of
She had to get the local
To translate for her
Since she couldn’t speak tibetan
When a deal was made
She saw that Boris aka Tashi
Was talking in tibetan with
His new friends.
She knew he spoke some Russian
But this was a surprise.
When they were alone
She asked him to teach
Her while they made love
Every night.
She learned better that way.
With in a few nights of love making
With practice conversation
She was flaunt.
Claudia during the day
Either practiced her karate
Or started sketching.
She was drawing people
And the other monks
One was beautiful
And loved using him as a model
She soon started talking to him
And felt unusual feelings
For the fellow.
She did not tell Boris about her crush
But he saw the pictures she drew
He felt no jealousy
Thinking that bushido
MAde her loyal to him.
He kissed her
And said that in a few days
They would be in wedded bliss
After they got married
Claudia and who was named Tashi
Still had gently passion only at night
He whispered that he will always be Boris
To her.

Two young pretty woman
Friends in since the 8th grade
One, Johnnie, was a classy yet
Sensual
And the other, Tasha, plain
And ******
They were both mountaineers
When Johnnie forced Tasha to
Go out and see the sights
Johnnie got the eye
Of a middle aged Tibetan monk
It was love at first sight
Though forbidden
Lama Tashi
And Johnnie Merton the middle of the night
In a shack
Run down yet cozy
There they made love
And talked while kissing
For they really loved each other
Though
One morning
Tasha and her beloved
Were nowhere to be since
Suspicious Johnnie
Looked until she found
Her beloved Tashi
Walking away
And her “friend” Tasha
Running away
This meant one thing
They were coupling.
Enraged at the thought
Johnnie poisoned her friend
Then she recurved a letter
From the Lama
That he made a mistake
And only wanted her
Johnnie crumpled the letter
For it added to her rage
The Tasha survived the
Poisioning
And it sent Johnnie in to a rage
She then took her ice axe
And hacked Tasha to death
With it
Thirty wacks
Then she lured her lover to the shack
And tried to couple
With him
During witch
She gave him
Fifty wacks
With the ice axe
While making love to him.
That was when she
Made the life long mistake
Johnniece “Johnnie” David
Killed herself with an overdose.
No note was left.

The next morning after their morning loving making session
After whispering sweet nothings to eachother
Boris said that he going to announce that
He at a young age had found enlightenment
She thought her scronny tattooed lover was going to do that
Claudia said that she loved him
But since they came here
He went insane
Yet was still loving
She realized that she had missed her period three months in a row
Could she still teach
While carrying their child.
Could she take care of them
Here in this waste land
She thought know and she
Called her tattooed monk that
She was carrying his kid
Claudia then she she was going to open up a dojo in
Upper manhattan
To make a better life
For her and the kid
She kissed him farewell
Feeling those piecing for the last time
And turned her back
On the punk Lama.
When she arrived Claudia left
Her beloved
In Tibet
And wished him well
She also found out that she was having multiples.
When she got to a doctor
Claudia stayed with her friends
Until she gave birth
Made a name for herself again
Every night she cried herself to
Sleep
And dreamed of Boris
And in the day she took her
Sketch book out and
Started drawing tantric art
Who involved her and Boris
The friends asked
What happened to him
And she said
That he was happier in the mountains
And she couldn’t live there
For the sake of the children
When it came time to give birth
She had for daughters
To whom she promised not
To breathe a word of their
Father.
Over the years
She got stronger both emotionally
And physically
And the girls grew up
Like wild flowers
When the daughters whent to school
She opened her own dojo
And found another
Who her daughters called
Dad.
She never told him about Boris
Trying to pretend like they
Never met in that alley
Once a upon a time
Then her new husband saw the tattoos and the name
Who was Boris
He asked her
And then as the children slept
She said that she
Was once in love with a street punk
Who dragged her
To Tibet
And he lost touch of reality
She said that he was called Lama Tashi Surya
But she knew him as Boris
Claudia cried and then tried to move on with life
Until her one of daughters
Discovered in the mail
A letter in what she called Egyptian
And normal
It said that her husband
Lama Tashi Surya
Killed himself
The letter in tibetan was both a love letter and suicide note.
Her and her new husband
Got the others around and
Told the daughters
Of their real father
Lama Boris as Claudia called him.
She found the only suitable sketch of her beloved
And showed it do her daughters
Claudia felt like it was her fault
That the love
Of her life was dead.
She closed her school
And went to be a secretary
First she was a martial arts expert
And mistress
Then some insane punk’s lover
Now a mother
And wife.
She had to leave her passion karate behind along with Boris.
She framed the sketch and
Hung it up
Above the tv so when her daughters
Watched cartoons
They knew where they came from.
From time
To time
Claudia still had feelings
For the Russian punk
Who rocked her world.

When you first
Said tashi delek
To me
And saw your picture
I though you where the one
That I would be with
That we run away
To Tibet
That we lovingly couple
In our love nest
But that may
Be a day dream.
Toxic yeti Dec 2018
After their wedding night
Claudia said her new husband
Shed his t shirts
Wearing the monk robes
And gave her his old clothing
He was skinny
So they fit her perfectly
Before she taught the monks
Martial arts
She had to practice out in the front.
In the sun
When she finished she went
To the younger monk
And drew pictures of him.
He kept looking at her
Claudia asked him if she was
Beautiful
Sering saw that he was was in fact attracted to be her
And her beauty
Comparing her to a Buddhist goddess
He closed the door
And the monk and Claudia
Shared a kiss.
This was a beautiful experience
But she had to keep it
A secret.
She stoped seeing him
For her heart was meant for Tashi
She felt lonely
And wanted to be him
So she taught him
Her art instead.
Her first student
She gave him private lessons
But her gentle teaching
Of karate
Made the youngster more attracted to her.
Before dinner
Claudia dawned her uniform
And taught
Her art to
The monks
Including her Boris
At night she continued to teach Boris (Tashi) her moves
He taught her the alphabet
So she can practice them letters
Then Boris said that he wanted to couple with her.
They kissed and embraced
While he got into her
Feeling a kind of pleasure that she
Only felt with him
His piercings pressed against her lips
Though if it
Wasn’t for the piercings
She though that forbidden kiss.

Boo!
The sun has risen

Keep your heads low
Remain discreet
Beware of her
She's contagious
She's like a yeast
In a dough
Very effective
She will make u rise

A ROMANTIC AULD EJEIT

Nat King Cole sings Autumn Leaves
on the radio - in Japanese.

My mother falls
in love with it.

I fail to find it for her
this being pre-Internet days.

So, I sing it for her
making up the Japanese words.

I sing different words
every day.

Sing she says...
"My...Donie's knee!"

Which is what we call it
after hearing it only the once.

"Share it with Yuku!"
I sing whatever comes to mind.

"Oh more each day!"
the words have a life of their own.

Now when I have grown
to be this man I am

I learn the proper Japanese
but she still thinks I'm making it up.

Now here in her dying
she says sing me

"My  Donie's knee!"

So I sing in my broken
Japanese.

She squeezes my hand
whispers softly...

"You were always
a romantic auld eejit!"

**

Phonetically speaking it goes something like this....

Ma doe bay knee
She re e yuku
Ha me kay no
Ha ray hi yo
Oh mo e day
Ha na a she ku
Wat su ra ray
Naf su no he
Key me ga oh day
Yat sa she cu
Wa tashi o
key da key tay
suki say nu ko e no
coo may o
ka tar esh she
an no hee
