You Want Me
Lexie May 2018
now i lay me down to sleep
i pray you take these tears i weep
oh these shadows that grow and stalk
tracing lines out of souls and talk

oh rest you have long been gone
everything is right and wrong
such is this that i would lay
upon these words where i have no say

that you would want me as i am
nothing else, what a foolish man
step away, i beg of you to run
leave me before the rising of the sun

she is a fool, and you want her still
but she is not able to bend her will
tell her such and she will deny all
but say her name and will answer the call

let her be, though never alone
the one star in the sky that still shone
when all among the dark of the abyss
calls to her like a final wish

catch her hand as she is on the edge
a wanderer just to find such a ledge
the wind pushing just to pull her down
put your heart into the earth and ground

let its roots grow to a tree
so that such a fool could see
you are love, and this is life
filled with bits of grace and strife

she says but a few things, just a word
though whispered they are still heard
you want me, i need you to need me
the way a heart needs to be free

I Mourn My Soul
Lexie Oct 2016
Most days I survive
But it would be unkind
And sort of rude
If I did not take a day
Or a night here and there
Just to grieve
For the heart
Ripped from my chest
And the soul
****** from betweeen my toes
They were mine
And they were stolen
A blessing in a way
But still my nerves
Are frayed and split
And send messages to a brain
Overloaded with drugs
And fill with pain
So tonight a grieve
One candle lit
And one sleeve barred
Goodnight I say
Goodnight you sleep
But you will rest
While my skin weeps

The Girl Who Went South
Lexie Jan 2016
I know exactly what it's like
I know specifically how you feel
I know you just need an out
I know you, the girl who went South

You left your home and your people
You left your winter coats and your boots
You left all the things that were for cold
I know you, the girl who went South

We were best friends every day
We were best friends, but you didn't stay
We were best friends and now I'm alone
I know you, the girl who went South

She was a pretty thing, had a nice smile
She was a dancer and a companion
She was my partner in crime
I know you, the girl who went South

Girl you better come back
Girl don't forget your home
Girl bring your heart so I won't be alone
I know you, the girl who went South

They were best friends never far away
They were children every single day
(Now) They make phone calls all the time
I know you, the girl who went South

Now my smiles broken
Now I think I'm lost
Now I miss you and want you back
I know you, the girl who went South

One day I'll see you
One day you will come home
One day I'll hug you and break every bone
I know you, the girl who went South

I think in a way our words read us, just as much as we read them

It would be as if our souls looked into a mirror, and nodded, saying, "this is understanding myself, this is knowing other people"

And maybe that is how our hearts see the stars, and taste a kiss, through the mutterings over our mind, overgrown into pages and poems
Thank you for reading this, bless you and your words.

No rail on either side
A sheer precipice
To merely let me fall
I catch my breath

To murderous waters
Shaky steps
To a end
The means of life

Through it all
I still tried
But waters rise

Lets Just Fight
Lexie Feb 2014
Lets just agree to argue
You don't smile and I won't either
I stab you and you stab me

Just let the anger control you
Let the vengeance take reign
Self control is a joke
It's so easy to just lay here
And forget the world

The way things work is twisted
Why can't we just stand face to face
Let out the emotion blow for blow

Fair and square no hard feelings
Just a chance to show what I really am
What I have become the monster you made
We both breathe air
But that us where the similarities end

Just let the tide rise high
Over flow the banks
No hugs no kisses no thanks
I don't want your help
I must do this on my own
Without you all alone

Let's me just slap you across the face
Then it will be your turn
For you to teach
And for me to learn

Give my trembling hands some purpose

But there is no freedom in me

Is there any truer comparison from light to dark
We find beauty in the stark contradiction
But I propose I different proposal
That you cannot know one without the other
What beauty would we see in the dark if we did not know another
How could we know depth of the sunshine
They are not opposite at war
But twins who argue evermore
Over who will rule
And who will fade
And whether or not we will see this place

***** souls and empty minds
A candle in a room all alone

The wind blows but the flame does not flicker
Hearts beating fast beat quicker

They listen at the key hole
The reap the glory of minds they stole

The bells ring loud and clear
You hear the fear oh so near

Its your choice but its my pain
Are all my trials in vain

These chains are broken but still bind
Whispering voices from behind

Your hands are cold, cold as ice
You got lucky when you rolled the dice

What is your reason what is your will
I stand here frozen cold and still

The wind blows oh so strong
I've been here all along

I climb a tower to reach the skies
Dropping down to empty tides

Catching me I am falling

I Run To You
Lexie Jun 2018
My mind in its lazy moments
Always finds its way back
To the thought of you

While some would trade
Their soul through bars
For just a handful of cigarettes

And other lost stars
Fall from the sky
To give the earth just one kiss

Yet many still run a ragged race
Through streets of memories
Only to rest forever in the cold dirt

I cannot help but ponder
That maybe like how trees try to graze the sky
You would let me grow with you

And such as dew kisses the grass at dawn
You would greet me in the morning
What a sweet sentiment is this

Like a shooting star
Running through the heavens
Such as this, I run to you

I just want to put my hand over your mouth
Stiffle the stupidity as it streams out of your head
Maybe I am just bitter
Time changes things
But a rotten core is good for only swine
The fruit does not fall from the trees
You came back for the truth
It draws you in
But too close
And at what expense
You would light a fire
Yet you have no fear of flames
The apprehension tingles on my tongue and courses through my senses
I pick my words as though they were flowers in full bloom
As sweet as honey
Oh how I wish they would sting
For what is this mess you make of things
Just turning over soil when you could be planting crops
The nuts have been gathered
By those that will devour them with the hunger of a winter
If only I knew how to wait out the storm
I clasp my hands together but they will not clamp
The desperation beads on my forehead and slips into my mind
Salty thoughts and a foolish tongue
Must it be bound behind my teeth
When I would lash it against you like a whip
I want it to sting
That you would turn your foolish head in shame
For your pride carries everywhere you go
You will come to find me
I will be ready
But not waiting
The foolish feet that carry you
Have many lessons to be learned
You will look at me with eyes of desire
And I will burn you alive with the fire behind my eyes
Just to give you a glimpse

and as heaven fell

all the dreams that had not yet
even begun to be dreamt
lay still in the heart of the demons

and when the tears showered
on the leaves of the forgotten
and my words died on the lips of all people
all the souls swore ad oath so sacred
and lay it to rest in the bones of a child

and as the whispers faded
on the breezes of the island
and the farthest reaches of the land stilled
and all of time breathed its last dream
and lay to rest in the arms of the angels

and I awoke
like the soul
and the fire
kindled in your eyes

who can't be original
but I twist this story
and there is a part you missed

just one scar
who can't be distinguished
but I stand out redder
and it hurts to not know bliss

just this time
who will stop me
but maybe I don't want to
and I have already let go

just like before
you reached in and saved me
hugged me around my scars
made me hold on

and we hold to each other
when the world falls apart
and we make it to the end
because we knew where to start

and you always remind me
so I never can forget
42 miles are nothing
because we can conquer it

and I braver
than I ever was before
and that is one thing
I have yet to thank you for

and I will always listen
just above the noise
and hear your heart screaming
among all the ploys

and sing to me
my Elven friend
and you sing sweetly
from beginning to end

and sweet dreams today
and better ones tomorrow
and just for tonight
forget all of your sorrow

this paper is so thick
your judgements much to quick
just one blink so still
our eyes, the tears fill

you stamp it down
into your mind
those evil words
mixed with kind

you try to sort
inside your fort
you never let walls down
building up and around

you bite your teeth
into your hand
seep the screams in
like you planned

marks you leave
webs your weave
everywhere you go
but no one will ever know

what's in your head
between your sheet
where the lies
and the demons meet

a pile of sparkling gems
roses without their stems
left alone, left to rot
what is alive and what is not

in a garden
made out of thorns
here the flowers
grown like horns

to sting your palm
and break the calm
less than yesterday
more than today

never thought out
not thinking ahead
just afraid of the night
and filled with dread

like drops of white snow
that gently go
inside a crack
and fill the black

I hold your heart
inside of my own
I can't let you out
to be all alone

the protection you desire
the fear you hold like fire
every tempest hotter
without a drop of water

and so we burn
and get stuck
and bind ourselves
in ribbons of bad luck

closer to a core
what you're looking for
my sweet friend
is this the end

shredded to the bone
an empty shell
we build ourselves
a living hell

an imprinted thought
what I am not
maybe we just forgot
or took a wrong breath, and got caught

You rule without castle or throne
A kingdom of hearts
Won by conquest

You lay siege to minds
And twist my emotions
You can be clear like glass
The strongest of you
Are the only ones that last

You cannot run
But you can hide
Here you dwell
Deep inside

If I had two choices
You would be the third
You have wings
But are no bird

You teach and you grow
But how you travel no one knows

You cannot speak with a voice
But you talk by my choice

A chosen pain that we bear
A curse to heavily laid on the fair
What am I? Guess in the comments.

The air gets harder to breathe when we are in the same room
The light is so much brighter on your face than mine
Why is gravity pulling us together
This world has not been kind to your heart or mine
Why should it be now

I have to stop trusting myself
I cannot keeping hiding behind these eyes
As each one of my friends like a flower slowly dies
I lift mine eyes unto sunny skies
And say a prayer that I don't know will ever be heard
Maybe a little bird will carry my cry up to heaven

Or maybe I speak to deaf ears all around me
I try to get your attention but you see right through me
Its like I don't exist or am in a whole other dimension
I am suspended from the sky
By an invisible wire
But it keeps pulling taught
Slowly lifting me higher

Away from where I want to be
And the people I choose to love
Bringing me to my other life
The one I hide above
Before I could only watch and wonder
What is was like to be one of you
I was forever and outsider

But now I am far to close
To so many hearts
If I ever left the circle would simply fall apart
I am the cornerstone and the capstone in one
The foundation set oh so carefully
I couldn't let you crumble when you depend on my
I can hurt anyone else this is my second chance

This is a burden I choose to bare
On a broken back and bent shoulders
My knees are weak and my arms are limp
And if I move I know you will slip
But I need to nourish my broken body
But how can I the rules or body I cannot bend
But it doesn't matter I am only here to mend
The broken hearts and the jagged wounds

It is not my place in this puzzle
I must find my own in this world
This is not my home but that is so easy to forget
Just remember this war is not over yet
I am still betting I cast my lots on you
No matter what happens I am going to see this through

I don't care how far I must go to protect you
Even to the ends of the earth and back again
I don't care if these frail bones shatter
Nothing I do matters
It is all about you the apple of my eye
Its all about you but can I teach you how to fly

You told me that there was no end to darkness
That she was the all-reaching
A younger eternal
Still much more than I in existence
A higher being
To my dispermenance

I took this as truth
And swallowed her as water and whiskey
She burned like fire and quenched my thirst as one

Time
Has gone on
And things, dreams
And vision
Oh how they have come to pass

The truth that I had took
She has sat in my belly
And looked through my veins
She saw no stars, but has made constellations in me

I changed.
She is the same,
But she has made me not quite as I was before
Since now I am different - so she seems to be more
Though it does not make me less

While my words may not be for you
It is something said
And so it remains something spoken
Even as it sits on my tongue
Such that I could pull it through my teeth

The Darkness, she wants me
And the angels around me
Oh that their words of caution were more than whispers in the wind
I have a deaf soul
But she sees signs and wonders
Just as they are meant to be know  -by those who have walked the way the eternal has lain bare for them

There is no contrast to be found in this darkness
You have sparks, but no light
But hope will bring you through all things
Even as the storm is coming
Even as the storm is here
Where no ending is found
You will make a new beginning

And what does one
Twixt sunset

I called to the stars
And they winked back at me
Sang to the moon
Yet she howled back
Calling into the night

Purple Lightning
Lexie Jan 2016
Glide to the center
In your ghostly form
I could walk right through you
Like a wraith

It was a deeper shade
Than all the purples, all the purples before
They snuck in the edges
Of my vision

Like the sun
Setting into dark
They filled the abyss
With their chaos and color

If I was the lightning
Reflected in your eyes
I would be content
For I would always be with you

You crackle with electricity
But everywhere on this earth I touch
Turns to fire and ash
I dare not make you shine

For if I did
The world would burn
Into ashes and memories
And the tallest trees would crumble

You don't have a clue
How storms are made
Like your temper
They rise and fall

And like your dreams
They fade
Into a distant memory
A cold past

Every time I hear it
My spine shudders in recognition
My shoulders tighten like a rope
And I spark

Down the wires
I dance so merrily
Into your home, and heart
Through the walls I course

Nothing, but trouble and beauty
Like ice and salt I burn
When crushed in your hand.
A challenge.

You provoked me
Into the night and its darkness
I will return
In tenfold of clouds

And rain down
Until I reign!
You pull the reigns
And my tears rain

Like a bit in my mouth
These words are so sharp
I spit them out
And they foam

Like a rabid monster
I bit your heart
I wormed inside
And found my own way out

The small of my back
Damp with the sweat of my fear
The whole world
Thinking I am a star

I shine brighter
But not for you
Like a diamond on your hand
That you can't hold

But I found my courage at the bottom:
The bottom of the glass
The bottoms of the chasm
The bottom of your heart

I walked many halls
And the keys of your piano-forte
And then I fell
Like a crescendo

Black and white
I saw stars
Blue and purple
Around my eyes

They serve as a reminder
On my wrist
In your letters.
And every day

We don't forget
We just don't remember
Less and less
Until it's gone

When it's wrong its allowed
But we wouldn't say it out loud
So loud I couldn't hear
Until I got it out

We try to make it right
Wouldn't take what's left
Scared of what's behind
And the future much to near

So comfortable with the chaos
We hate it, until it's lost
I wanted so hard to find it
When that time came, you had changed

Your tentacles reach
And sting my skin
The lightning bites back
But it's to cold

Cold in my head
I can't shake out
Like a snow globe
With a pounding melody

I'm the wild one
With the blue eyes
With the knife
And the disguise

A mask of emotions
Ripped away
And the anger crackles forth
And wraps the earth in fingers of light

Go to sleep
With a solid belief
That love doesn't exist.
Awakened to a reality,

Where it was here
But it is destroyed
I know I had it
Now it's gone

It left it's mark
Like a hammer in my heart
And it got stuck
It wouldn't get out

I bite into the truth
And the regret trickles down my throat
The taste to bitter
To swallow

I checked
Every three minutes
For a new way to survive
But my patience wore thin

If you had a heart attack
I could jump you back to life
Rub my hands together
And dissipate the fates

But I do not think the fates
Would meddle with something as black as your heart
Like chalk on a white wall
You drew me in

And spit me out
Like you had swallowed fire
But I was already in your veins
Racing for your heart
