We were a beleaguered bard born,
a chief in chatoyant charms charged with
the principle petrichor of passionate paramours;
to drive the dainty dalliances
of incipient ingénues immured in
glamourous gossamer gowns;
lilting, lead lissome lads 'long labyrinthine love;
mischeiviously make mellifluous mondegreens;
sing of such serendipity: surreptitiously susurrous sessions
scintillas of Spring's sempiternal sentiments!

But fetching fugues fade fast, felicity's fated to fly. For
penumbral poets, it portends a pyrrhic pay.
We wander woebegone, waiting wistfully.
Lovers leave lyricists to languish in lonely lassitude.
The halcyon heyday has harbingered
inbroglio in the inured inventor of infatuation.
Why? With what wherewithal?
Often our offerings off us, opposite of, obviously, obtaining, or,
lucidly: lyrical lacers of Love likewise lack its livening lagniappe.

Labyrinthine is my heart, a maze dizzying
with  your murmurous (though lovely) lilt my solitary atlas
along with furtive glances and scintillas of hope,
and dulcet kisses stolen not on a veranda,
for the fireflies and willows to witness,
but surreptitiously and sussorously
in the penumbra beneath,
kisses stubbornly efflorescent,
love sempiternal.
I wrote this poem inspired by Robert Beard's list of 100 most beautiful words in the English language.

NIGHT HAIKUS

Dew-laden grass bend,
misty air touches warm skin,
…..a tranquil evening.

Cool night breeze blows…’pon
scintillas of light..….fireflies,
on blue starry night!

Cuppa tea…on palm,
tired body and mind succumb,
bed calls....night is calm.

Alone* in the dark, I sat reclined,
My mind bickering, between thoughts.
Questions I have asked Time and again.
Each time asked met with a response
Different from the last. Oh, How this is very
Normal.

Festering away, burrowing deep,
Exposing ideas long since forgotten.
Scintillas of pain here and there,
Shame and shock, pride and joy,
The entire spectrum of emotions.

Dredge up my mind,
Till this fertile soil,
Until this mind, indeed my soul too,
Is firmly planted,
Bearing fruit.

But what if I should bear a multitude
Of fruits!? What then? Was this meant
To be? Or is it a defect and I need to start -
again?

the ingénue stood on the sand of the lagoon.
diaphanous ripples waved her goodbye
and she waved back.
the murmurous offing swallowed the plethora
of scintillas.

she turned around and wandered into the
labyrinthine jungle, ignoring the
susurrous whispers of the eavesdropping
leaves.

the penumbra of her life faded into
a scintilla of nothing and she was swallowed
up by the offing.

it found her a dulcet morsel.
ingénue - naïve young woman
diaphanous - filmy
offing - the sea between the horizon and the offshore
susurrous - whispering
penumbra - a half shadow

having sought the essence

of wetness...the bluest feed

of an ocean washed away.

dealt this cleanse that drives in

the bitterness of salt...and the

restless scintillas of sand.

thrashing about as the living memory

of finest breaks.

all the while listening to the raspy voice

of a chill undertow, thinking to

my selves...this is wetness.

which too, must dissolve.

Oppose the nefarious moves of life with a force of compassion. Let your life know that your activated energies can counter its all blitz. Let your heart sanguine with joy and dance with courage. Let your mind co-ordinate with your heart completely to lower down the urges of a wicked amygdala. .Let your hands shine being an epitome of brilliance and vitality. Strive to change the composition of your body to wipe out the swaggers of your pain. Whisper the songs of plentiful delight. Let yourself create an influence on the forces of nature so that cool breezes can add sensational pleasures to your prairie. The fragrance of Rosaceae and the beauty of Tulips can engulf you completely. Allow springs to serve the autumns so their inferiority complex can be reduced. Persuade summers to envy winters so they can at least learn the art of kindness. Let verdant attribute all its efficacy to deserts to know their worth. Provoke it to thank the uninhabited lands for its effectiveness. As a gesture of appreciation, kiss the nebulae, let it shower blithe and kindness upon you. Scintillas of aurora are narrating a new tale; help them complete their narration.

Crowning canopies
of trees,  mid monotonia
to their wood, huddled
in prayer.
Cobwebed against the great ultramarine Eight--
brittle scintillas, gloaming
to vespers.

Look to the stars
in this maze of life.
It is when you travel
that it is the same sky
we're under.

Blessings rain on us all
as well as curses and pain.
Turn to the inky sky
freckled
with scintillas.
Let the umbran tendrils
fall behind you.
