Stain memories mark brittle pages
Ink ran livid as it bled through the thick paper
Fresh new starts branded by the ink before

Far ahead lie pristine white hope
Fresh, innocent, and full of potential

Do not let the previous page's failures ruin the chance for a beautiful masterpiece
Move beyond the smudge past
Pick up your brush, pen, or pencil
And create a new piece
You were my everything
and you left with bags of me
without all my stuff
                  possession-less
Nights still matured into days
                  days still died to nights
Flowers will bloom
                  regardless
Heaven will shine
                  regardless
And I'll buy all new stuff
Fourteen days after impact
I reached into my pocket and found a phenomenon
on a crumbled up piece of photo paper
him and I stared back up at me
and suddenly I stood alone on the crumbled memory
next to a stranger with a face I've never seen before
Barely wallpaper, a face in a crowd
A passerby on a street that never settles to a simmer
Fourteen days after impact I threw away a crumbled piece of photo paper
That might as well have been a candy wrapper
A phenomenon called
out of sight, out of mind, out of hearts, out of photos
Rachel Dyer Jun 2014
Abandoned on the eve of war
left alone at the enemies door
calling to the darkness echoing your name
tears salty with betrayal that finally came
the hole is deep under like a visceral gap
hands that shake while my knuckles rap
“all alone I see” says the darkness now
“unexpected little one, it would be wise to bow”
“I see he has left you, turn and ran
It must be quite terrifying, please don’t cry if you can”
I will take you now and fill your hollow heart
With ache that goes deep, come now let us start
Fight if you can for I know its your nature
Welcome to the heartbreak legislature
I know you are scared, and now quite alone
And I know you are hurting right through to the bone
As for him and his leaving don’t worry or fret
Ill come for him someday, and I’ll play him like a pawn on my set
But for now sweet little thing it is your turn to hurt
And when you come out, cold and curt
You’ll have ice in your veins and a dead piece of soul
Like scar tissue unfeeling and dull
Let us begin my darling my sweet
My beautiful little fresh piece of meat. “
